College campuses can be extraordinary places, with some being more beautiful than others. While beauty varies for everyone, it’s hard to argue that these campuses aren’t stunning. Here is the most beautiful college campus in each of the 50 states: 

1. Alabama

The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa is the most beautiful college campus in Alabama. It has historic buildings, intricate architecture, and plenty of natural elements to brighten the outdoor spaces. 

This campus houses the oldest museum in the state, the Alabama Museum of Natural History, so it’s perfect for history lovers. You can find it in Smith Hall with a stone doorway, a grand staircase made of marble and iron, and much more impressive architecture.  

The Woods Quad Outdoor Sculpture Garden is another sight to behold on campus. It has whimsical and creative sculptures that you’ll never get tired of checking out. You can also enjoy the Black Warrior River, Marr’s Spring, and the arboretum on campus. 

2. Alaska

The University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau has the most beautiful campus in the state.


Alaska’s most beautiful college campus is the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau. The campus is in the largest National Forest in the U.S., the Tongass National Forest. You can take a virtual tour to see the architecture and nature students see daily. 

3. Arizona

The University of Arizona covers 392 acres and has the most beautiful campus in the state.

The University of Arizona in Tucson is the most beautiful campus in the state. It spans 392 acres and has a view of the Santa Catalina Mountains. You’ll also find plenty of 20th-century architecture to remind you of the history.  

4. Arkansas

You can visit the Toad Suck State Park in Conway, AR, which is in the same city as the University of Central Arkansas.


The University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway is the most gorgeous campus in the state. This campus is close to Ozark Park, allowing plenty of opportunity for scenic hikes.  

5. California

California has more colleges than any other state, so determining the most beautiful campus isn’t an easy feat. However, Pepperdine University in Malibu is the leader because it has a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean and is in the Santa Monica Mountains foothills.  

6. Colorado

The University of Colorado, Boulder is a stunning campus with unforgettable architecture.

The University of Colorado, Boulder (CU Boulder) is dubbed the most beautiful campus in the state. It has plenty of natural beauty within and surrounding the campus, including the Flatirons, a series of slanted, slate-gray rocks. The campus also has gorgeous architecture, including designs from the French Renaissance Revival, Collegiate Gothic, and other styles. 

7. Connecticut

Connecticut’s most beautiful college campus is a private liberal arts school, Wesleyan University. It is in Middletown and has 360 acres of land, gorgeous architecture, and stunning sights throughout campus.   

8. Delaware

The White Clay Creek State Park is near the University of Delaware, giving students more beautiful scenes in nature.

Of the eight colleges in Delaware, the most beautiful campus is the University of Delaware. The campus, located in Newark, offers plenty of greenery, plants, and gorgeous architecture. It is also close to White Clay Creek State Park, where students can embrace nature.   

9. Florida

Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL, is so beautiful it looks like it could be a resort.

You’ll find the most gorgeous college campus in Florida in St. Augustine, Flagler College. The beautiful Ponce de Leon Hotel is a Spanish Renaissance-style building that originated as a luxurious hotel. The building retains the original name but is part of the college.   

10. Georgia

The Old Mill at Berry College only functions during special occasions, but it offers beautiful sights year-round.

The most beautiful college campus in Georgia is Berry College in downtown Rome. It is a private liberal arts college that encourages students to mentor and partner with families. One of the best parts of the campus is the Old Mill, which is operated on special occasions but is beautiful even when not in operation. 

11. Hawaii

The University of Hawaii at Mānoa provides beautiful scenery and stunning architecture.

The University of Hawaii at Mānoa is the state’s oldest university and most beautiful campus. While on campus, you’ll see the mountains in the distance, palm trees lining the sidewalks, and gorgeously maintained grass. You’ll also notice historic and modern buildings, giving the best of both throughout the campus. 

12. Idaho

The University of Idaho is in Moscow and has the most beautiful college campus in the state.


The University of Idaho (U of I) in Moscow is the most beautiful in the state for the stunning scenery on campus. The “Hello Walk” is a walking path that takes you through monuments, statues, and plants, and it is a campus favorite for the gorgeous sights. This campus also has a botanical garden, arboretum, and various ponds to enjoy nature and wildlife.  

13. Illinois

The University of Chicago is in the Hyde Park neighborhood and offers plenty of beautiful sights.

The most beautiful college campus in Illinois is The University of Chicago. The campus is in Hyde Park, a historic neighborhood with history, art, culture, and entertainment.   

On campus, you’ll find a mix of modern and gothic architecture, leading to a stunning environment you won’t forget. You’ll also find gargoyles throughout the area and notice ivy covering the buildings. 

14. Indiana

You’ll know you’ve entered the Indiana University, Bloomington campus when you reach these beautiful arches.

Indiana’s most beautiful college campus is Indiana University, Bloomington (IU). The Sample Gates at the campus’s eastern entrance are a spectacular sight that immediately lets visitors know they are at the university. Another sight you won’t want to miss is the Showalter Fountain, complete with a bronze 15-foot Venus.   

You can also view the oldest structure on campus, the Rose Well House. Other buildings at the same location show the Neoclassical and Romanesque architectural styles used during the original design and construction.   

15. Iowa

Iowa State University has gorgeous, open greenery and stunning architecture.

If you’re in Iowa, you may want to consider visiting the most beautiful college campus in the state, Iowa State University (ISU). It is in Ames, IA, and offers spectacular sights on campus. One of the reasons it won the title is because of the park-like central lawn, which is 20 acres of green space in the middle of campus.   

There are also around 13,000 trees throughout campus, adding colors and splendor everywhere. You’ll also find historic buildings from 1860 when the campus was first developed.   

16. Kansas 

Kansas State University is the most gorgeous college in the state, and its historic buildings and acres of gardens contribute.

The most beautiful college campus in Kansas is Kansas State University in Manhattan, although there are many gorgeous colleges throughout the state. It houses historic buildings dating back to 1876 and has 19 acres of gardens the public can explore for free.  

17. Kentucky

After exploring the University of Louisville Belknap campus, you can check out Beckley Creek Park in Louisville.

The University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus in Old Historic Louisville is the most beautiful in Kentucky. With more than 130 tree species, the canopy provides shade, beauty, and an enjoyable atmosphere. The grand architecture of the buildings also adds to the sight and helped make Charles Grawemeyer Hall a U.S. National Historic Landmark.  

18. Louisiana

Louisiana’s most beautiful college campus is Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. With vibrant flowers, giant oak trees, and acres of greenery, you’ll be mesmerized by the beauty. The architecture around campus also contributes to the university making this list because it emphasizes the history and cultural heritage of the area.  

19. Maine

The College of the Atlantic is in Bar Harbor, ME, providing plenty of things to do and places to see.

Maine’s most gorgeous campus is the College of the Atlantic, a private college in Bar Harbor. It is on Mount Desert Island and has a peaceful environment with natural surroundings. The proximity to the Atlantic Ocean provides the opportunity to stroll near the water and enjoy the accompanying wildlife. 

20. Maryland

Loyola University is a private university with 81 acres of wooded land and is the most beautiful college campus in Maryland.

Of the 55 colleges in Maryland, Loyola University in North Baltimore has the most beautiful college campus. This college is a Jesuit Catholic university covering 81 acres of wooded land. It has stunning architecture and unforgettable natural scenery.  

21. Massachusetts

Wellesley College has a stunning campus with plenty of natural scenery for students to enjoy and explore.

Wellesley College in Massachusetts is a private women’s liberal arts college with the most beautiful campus in the state. The campus in Wellesley spans 500 acres and includes meadows, forests, and a tranquil body of water, Lake Waban. Wellesley College also has mesmerizing 19th-century brick buildings surrounded by wooded hillsides.  

22. Michigan

Kalamazoo College in Michigan has a beautiful campus with red brick buildings and vibrant landscaping.


Michigan has many beautiful campuses, but Kalamazoo College tops the list. It has beautiful buildings with red bricks that vibrantly pop out amongst the scenic landscape. The campus in Kalamazoo has many green spaces, colorful leaves in the fall, and vibrant flowers in the spring.  

23. Minnesota

Minnesota’s most beautiful college campus is St. Olaf College near Northfield. The campus boasts old buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Gothic-style Old Main, designed in 1877, and the Classic Revival-style Steensland Library from 1938.   

24. Mississippi

The University of Mississippi, or Ole Miss, in Oxford, is Mississippi’s most beautiful college campus. It boasts historic sites, beautiful plant life, and extraordinary architecture. The campus boasts many trees, with 400-800 new ones planted yearly.   

25. Missouri

Washington University is located in St. Louis, MO, and has the most beautiful campus in the state.

Missouri’s most beautiful college campus is Washington University in St. Louis. He has stunning buildings, with the majority being collegiate Gothic style. This university also has breathtaking libraries, an art museum, and a teaching museum.  

26. Montana

The University of Montana boasts a beautiful campus with plenty of outdoor space for students to spread out and explore.

The University of Montana in Missoula is the most beautiful campus in the state. It’s scenic and peaceful, and you can go for a stroll with a mountainous view in the distance.  

27. Nebraska

Nebraska’s most beautiful college campus is Creighton University in Omaha. It is a private Jesuit college with a gothic-style church. This campus also has plenty of open green space for students to enjoy, and there are trees and pathways to explore.  

28. Nevada

Reno, NV, has the most beautiful college campus in the state at the University of Nevada.


The University of Nevada, Reno, is located in the mountains above Lake Tahoe. While much of the state is a desert landscape, the area around this university has a sparkling lake and crisp air that sets it apart from other places.   

29. New Hampshire

Dartmouth College in Hanover has the most beautiful campus in New Hampshire. It has gorgeous natural surroundings that draw people to the area. It’s near the Connecticut River and the Appalachian Trail, enticing outdoor enthusiasts worldwide. 

30. New Jersey

New Jersey’s most beautiful campus is Princeton University. This university is the fourth oldest in the United States and is home to many historical buildings with stunning architecture.  

31. New Mexico

32. New York

Colgate University in Madison County is the most beautiful college campus in New York. This campus spans 575 acres and houses museums, galleries, a theater chapel house, and a planetarium. You can also find the Willow Path on campus, a famous trail of willow trees.   

33. North Carolina

35. Ohio

37. Oregon
