Puppies know how to steal our hearts. They are sweet and quickly become part of the family. If you live in Jacksonville, Florida, many shelters and rescues are looking for families to adopt their cute pups. However, adopting dogs is a huge responsibility. They aren’t just cute accessories, but living things with unique needs. Consider your options before adopting a new furry member into your family. No rescue wants to see a newly adopted dog return. With that being said, here are 7 adorable puppies in Jacksonville to adopt for Christmas.

1. Puppies in Jacksonville: Cotton Candy, a 2-year-old Pitbull Mix

Meet Cotton Candy, a goofy and playful 2-year-old Pitbull mix. He is a lovely boy with lots of energy. Cotton Candy loves to run and would thrive in a home with an active lifestyle. He’s also a cuddler, ready to take naps after a long day of playing. Cotton Candy is a true gentleman, despite his energetic spirit. This cutie weighs 64 pounds and is fully grown. He has a super soft coat and gentle eyes. Cotton Candy loves being the center of attention and would do well in a home with attentive family members. Treats are high on his list of favorite things.

Cotton Candy is thought to be a Pitbull mix, but the term “Pitbull” isn’t a breed. Instead, it’s a group of dogs with common similarities, often bully breed mixes. However, many puppies are mislabeled as Pitbulls because they share similar features like thick bodies and wide faces. Sadly, this adorable breed makes up most of all dogs in a shelter. They have an awful reputation for being aggressive, which is a stereotype that is untrue. Pitbulls are a lot like large puppies who need training and early socialization. If Cotton Candy has stolen your heart, contact Jax Humane Center for more information.

2. Puppies in Jacksonville: Roxy, a 10-year-old Mixed Breed Dog

Roxy is too sweet for words. She is an adorable, spunky, and hyper 10-year-old mixed breed dog. While she isn’t young enough to be considered a puppy, you wouldn’t know by looking at her. Roxy has a lot of energy to burn and loves being around people. She often attends birthday parties and youth camp events, setting a fun and light-hearted mood. While she attends these events, Roxy is looking for a forever home where she can settle down and enjoy her days relaxing, cuddling, and snacking on treats. Roxy is also very smart and knows basic commands like, “sit”, “paw”, “down”, “speak”, and “drop it”.

If you are looking for an adorable, sweet, and well-mannered mixed puppy, Roxy might be the gal you’re looking for. Sadly, like other mixed and Pitbull breeds, older dogs are left behind in shelters constantly. Young puppies are all the rage, but this sweet senior deserves love too. Are you ready to provide Roxy with a warm and loving home? Contact the shelter for more information on how to start the adoption process.

3. Puppies in Jacksonville: Pinta, a 5-year-old Mixed Breed

Next on our list, we have Pinta. How can you resist her sparkling eyes and wide smile? She is a spunky, goofy, and warm-hearted 5-year-old mixed breed with lots of love to give. She is a patient puppy who even lets the volunteers at Jax Humane Society adorn her with headbands. Pinta weighs 60 pounds and is done growing, so no surprises for her new family! This sweet girl loves playing with toys and is happy to spend time taking long walks and breathing in the fresh air. She loves spending time outside and being spoiled with pets and treats.

Pinta is a happy puppy who wants a forever home. When you are thinking about adopting a puppy, it’s good to take your time. The adoption process isn’t quick, since the center needs to confirm your home is safe and appropriate for the dog. Not all dogs are comfortable around other pets or small children. If you have any concerns or questions, reach out to the Jax Humane Society or visit Pinta at 8464 Beach Blvd.

4. Puppies in Jacksonville: Chloe, a 2-year-old Mixed Breed

Chloe loves fitness and isn’t afraid of a challenge. She is a perfect dog for fitness fanatics that frequently hike, camp, jog, or run. She is wonderful and ready to help her new family members workout and relax. While she is known as a fitness fanatic, Chloe is also happy to spend her days cuddling. She is a 2-year-old mixed breed weighing 46 pounds. It’s unlikely this cutie will grow anymore. Sadly, she has been at the shelter since Apr 26, 2022, and while the volunteers love her, Chloe is ready for a forever home.

Since Chloe is an active puppy, she would thrive in an active home with a large yard. Chloe loves spending time outside and running. If you like to take outdoor adventures and want a furry friend that can keep up, contact Jax Animal Care for more information. After a long day of working out, Chloe can provide snuggles.

5. Puppies in Jacksonville: Junebug, a 6-year-old Mixed Breed

Next on our list is Junebug. She is a 6-year-old mixed breed with a kind heart and gentle personality. If you let this sweet lady decide, she would spend all day cuddling. Junebug is a people pleaser and wants to spread joy. She sometimes wears comfortable clothing like flannels. Junebug is also a kisser. If you aren’t paying attention, she’ll leave you with a smooch. This cutie is ready for a new family with lots of space and love to give.

Mixed breed puppies in shelters are common, especially older dogs. Junebug is 6 years old, but still has a lot of life and energy. She is super photogenic and perfect for families with time to love and care for her. If you have interest in giving Junebug a new home, contact Jax Animal Care for more information.

6. Puppies in Jacksonville: Sally Anne, a 2-year-old Mixed Breed

Sally Anne has the most gorgeous eyes. She is a 2-year-old mix breed who loves being around other people. The volunteers love her. She is great at using her sparking pouty puppy eyes to receive treats. Sally Anne is beautiful and has a brindle coat with white markings on her face. She has lived in the shelter since Oct 27, 2022. This cutie is a big girl with lots of energy to burn.

Sally Anne would thrive in a home with lots of space to run and play. She is ready for a new life with her forever family, is that you? If you have interest in this brindle puppy, contact Jax Animal Care or stop and meet her at 2020 Forest Street.

7. Puppies in Jacksonville: Allison, a 3-year-old Mixed Breed

Last but not least, we have Allison a 3-year-old mixed breed puppy. She was found after she visited a local business and made herself home under a work table. While the shelter believes she is a mixed breed, they aren’t sure what breeds. Allison is a sweet “people pup” who prefers staying by your side at all times. She has a big heart and is ready for a new permanent adventure with a forever family.

Allison is a little shy and needs some extra help in her new home. If you want to adopt Allison, it’s a good idea to take the introductions slowly. Come and meet her at 2020 Forest Street and fill out an application.
