The fluffy French bulldog has a genetic mutation that causes the fluffy coat. It is recessive in both parents but only present in the puppy.

French bulldogs are one of the most popular dog breeds around the world. Known for their cute and affectionate nature, they make great companions for families and individuals alike. However, owning a French bulldog can come at a steep price, especially if you’re looking for a purebred or rare color variation. In this article, we will take a look at the top seven most expensive French bulldogs.

French Bulldogs

French bulldogs are miniature versions of standard bulldogs and come in a range of different coat colors, eye colors, and distinguishing features. French bulldogs are grouped by their defining color, and their price increases with their rarity and desirability.

French bulldogs are a very affectionate dog breed and can be very good with young children and other dogs. They love a good snuggle with their owners and enjoy playing as well. They grow to be between 11 and 13 inches tall and can weigh between 17 and 28 pounds. French bulldogs have distinctive bat-like ears, which are relatively large and stand upright atop their heads. Their faces are large but short, with wrinkles around their nose, similar to pugs.

The exercise requirements for these dogs are very low, and they will happily lounge around for most of the day. A short walk or play should be enough to keep them sleeping at night. Make sure you never take these dogs for a swim, as these dogs will drown!

Because of their brachycephalic faces, they are prone to many health conditions, including breathing difficulties, cherry eye, and tooth pathology. As well as problems relating to their faces, French bulldogs can also be prone to other conditions like hip dysplasia, heat stroke, and dermatitis. However, with proper care and attention, French bulldogs can make the perfect addition to any family and will be loving companions for many years.

The diet for French bulldogs is very important as they are prone to flatulence, itchy skin, allergies, and diarrhea if their requirements are not met. Choose food from a reputable manufacturer, or even opt for Frenchie-specific foods. If you are ever unsure about the right food for your pup, it is best to ask your breeder or veterinarian. An anti-choke feeding bowl is the best way to prevent the infamous Frenchie farts.

Unfortunately, the rarer and more expensive French bulldog colors are not recognized by the American Kennel Club. This means that they do not meet the requirements of the French Bulldog Breed Standard.

Despite this, here are 7 of the most desirable (and most expensive) French bulldogs on the market today.

Chocolate French Bulldogs ($6,500+)

Chocolate Frenchies are a rare color and can be either light or dark brown. This color can be combined with other features, such as white patches or merle, and different patterns, including spots or a black mask. These pups are rare due to the recessive genes that are required to achieve the chocolate color and are only possible if both parents pass this gene on to their offspring. This makes these Frenchies harder to breed. Because of their rarity, chocolate French bulldogs can cost upwards of $6,500.

There are tests available to determine whether your chocolate Frenchie is genuinely chocolate-colored. However, there is a possibility that these DNA tests are unable to pick up on the chocolate gene even if it is present, so a better way to test is using a method called the “red eye test”. This test is extremely simple – just take a video of your chocolate Frenchie with the flash turned on, and if they get the classic red eyes in the preview, then they are indeed true chocolate French bulldogs.

Lilac French Bulldogs ($6,500+)

Lilac French bulldogs are probably the most uniquely colored dogs in the world. These dogs lack the brown gene in their DNA, giving them a slight purplish-blue shade. When they are born, they will resemble a blue Frenchie, and as they grow and mature, their color will get lighter. A lilac French bulldog’s eyes are typically blue, light gray, or amber-colored, and their noses are pink or dark gray. They also have a distinct pink color around their eyes and mouth. Because of this, it is important to apply sunscreen to these areas when they go outside as they are prone to sunburn.

Lilac French bulldogs are highly sought after and can come in a variety of color patterns. These combinations can include lilac and tan, lilac merle, fluffy lilac, and more. Some buyers have even been known to pay up to $50,000 for a lilac French bulldog, but in most cases, they will sell for around the $6,500 mark.

Merle French Bulldogs ($6,500+)

Merle French bulldogs have unique color patterns on their coats. Merle creates a speckled appearance on the dogs that have this genetic disposition. Merle French bulldogs are highly sought after, rare, and beautiful. No wonder they are so expensive! However, Merle French bulldogs have more health problems than your average French bulldog. They are prone to eye issues, deafness, and even skin issues. Make sure you stay away from double merle puppies though, as they have an even higher risk of health problems!

Merle French bulldogs are rare and stunning. Some of these puppies can go for over $12,000! This price will get you the even rarer fluffy French bulldog in merle coloring. There are so many variations of Merle French bulldogs, so make sure you do your research! However, you must understand the health risks of these puppies before spending over $6,500 for them.

Blue Fawn French Bulldogs ($6,500+)

Blue Fawn French bulldogs are one of the more expensive and rare colors of French bulldog that you can get. These beautiful dogs have a fawn coloring with a grayish hue. This coloring is only achieved as a result of a recessive genetic combination. This is what makes these dogs costly. A unique feature of the Blue Fawn French bulldogs is that their eyes can be blue or green in adulthood. Every other feature of the blue fawn French bulldog is like any other French bulldog.

The Blue Fawn French bulldog costs over $6,500. The coloring is not easily achieved, so you do pay a premium price for these pooches. Some pups can even be sold for $9,000!

Platinum French Bulldogs ($8,000+)

Platinum French bulldogs have a unique pale platinum silver color. This coloration is incredibly rare and highly sought after. These French bulldogs can easily be confused with cream French bulldogs. But the major difference is their nose, eyes, paw pads, and lips. Platinum French bulldogs have dilutions due to their recessive genes in these areas. And cream French bulldogs have black coloring on their noses, paw pads, eyes, and lips. Their coloring, of course, is due to their recessive genetic makeup, making them rare.

Platinum French bulldogs are in high demand. With people seeking more and more unique colorations for their pooches, it is no wonder these pups go for a lot of money. For the incredibly rare fluffy platinum French bulldog, you can expect to pay over $25,000! But in general, expect to shell out at least $8,000 for a platinum Frenchie.

Isabella French Bulldogs ($8,000+)

The second most expensive French bulldog on our list is the Isabella French bulldog. This dog is a French bulldog with unique coloring. The coloring is a light liver color with a grayish tint. This coloring is caused by a recessive gene, like many of the other rare bulldogs on this list. The eye color is generally light in shades of blue, gray, amber, green, or light brown. Their noses and paw pads are pale brown. The coat of the Isabella French bulldog is smooth and short. These dogs can also have coat markings, including merle, brindle, tan, or black points.

The Isabella French bulldog is rare because both parents need to carry the recessive gene to make this specific color dog. Another reason the Isabella French bulldog is rare is that French bulldogs generally produce small litters. Because the coloring is so rare, the Isabella French bulldog can cost over $8,000! The most expensive Isabella French bulldog pup ever sold was $15,000.

Fluffy French Bulldog ($12,000+)

Coming in as the most expensive French bulldog on our list is the Fluffy French bulldog. This breed is a French bulldog with one distinctive feature: fluffy fur. Most French bulldogs have short coats, but the fluffy French bulldog has fluffier fur, which is especially noticeable around the ears. The long hair is caused as a result of mutated genes. This genetic mutation cannot be simply replicated by breeding a French bulldog with a long-haired breed. The gene that causes the fluffy coat is recessive in both parents but only presents in the puppy. This will explain why these dogs are the rarest and most expensive type of French bulldog. Fluffy French bulldogs come in a range of colors, and the cost of a puppy will depend on the coloration.

The cost for a fluffy French bulldog ranges from $15,000 to $35,000. Some breeders will sell puppies with rare colors and purebred bloodlines for over $65,000!
