You’ve seen computer-generated imagery (CGI) movies, right? They’re super realistic. But they’re so filled with fantastical elements that you know the scenes you see are not real.

Well, that’s what this scene looks like. The only difference is that this IS real. Your brain may have trouble computing this because of how out of this world (or at least out of this timeline) it seems.

Giant alligator takes a stroll on a rainy day in Florida.

Right away, the audio in this video is all about Godzilla references and feeling like this has to be a joke. The incredulity is felt in the shocked expressions of the Inside Edition newscasters sharing the story.

It’s a regular neighborhood with neatly manicured lawns and a sleek asphalt street between homes. This monstrous alligator walks casually from one lawn, across the street, heading toward the other lawn.

Its legs are oddly outstretched, elevating this alligator in a way unlike you typically see alligators. Usually, they walk extremely close to the ground, almost slithering like a snake.

But not this alligator. Not only is its size breathtaking, but the way it walks makes it difficult to compute that it’s real.

Even the reporting news site, Inside Edition, was convinced that it had to be a fake but after looking into it, they realized this is as real as it gets.

Uncomfortably large and seemingly out of place, this alligator seems to just be casually out for a stroll on a rainy day. This video was captured by a pro golfer in Naples, Florida.

What initially appears to be a quaint neighborhood is actually a golf course. Of course, he had to share this video on his social media, and it instantly went viral.

People commented on their surprise and doubts, saying things like “That GIANT looks like a baby dinosaur!”

Another commenter shared that they recently moved to that area and can probably still get their deposit back, hinting that they would rather flee from that environment, no matter how picturesque, than ever come face to face with this larger-than-life reptile.

The video goes on to explain that the unusual way this alligator is walking is called a “high walk.” They cut to a clip of a Miami wildlife expert, who explains that a high walk is used for efficiency. It permits alligators to move more quickly because they cover more ground.

With an alligator of that size, that type of walk also fully demonstrates just how large these reptiles can get. Not only that, but it demonstrates the impressive strength of their legs, being that they’re so much smaller than their bodies.

The wildlife expert compares this type of walk to attempting to walk in a push-up position for humans. It would be incredibly challenging and straining on your limbs.

The video ends with a replay of the initial incredulous exclamation from one of the newscasters, “Look at this! It almost looks like a joke!”
