Mini Goldendoodles are not true dog breeds. They are hybrids obtained from an intentional cross-breeding between Golden Retrievers and Toy Poodles based on their distinctive traits and characteristics.

Mini Goldendoodles are very affectionate and they love interacting socially with humans and other pets. They are also one of the best choices for people who suffer from allergies because they have allergen-friendly fur. Mini Goldendoodles are no different from the popular Goldendoodles or any member of the Canidae family, except that their sizes vary between small to medium.

In this article, we will learn about the factors that enable Mini Goldendoodles’ growth, when they stop growing as pups, compare their sizes with other Goldendoodles’ sizes, and factors that help them reach their full size. This article will provide you with helpful information on how big Mini Goldendoodles can get.

How Big Do Mini Goldendoodles Get?

Mini Goldendoodles grow 13 – 20 inches tall and weigh about 15 – 35 pounds. A healthy Mini Goldendoodle’s shoulder’s height is twice the height of a Chihuahua. They are the smallest of all the three major popular Goldendoodle sizes (Standard, Medium, and Mini).

The precise weight of an average-sized Mini Goldendoodle depends on genetics and the exact type of the parent poodle (because they vary in size). A Mini Goldendoodle can grow up to about half the size of its Golden Retriever parent.

For instance, if a full-grown Golden Retriever is 21.5 – 24 inches in height and 55 – 75 pounds in weight, the resulting Mini Goldendoodle would be around 16 to 20 inches in height and weigh between 25 to 35 pounds in weight.

The miniature size of Mini Goldendoodles makes them a perfect choice for owners who live in small apartments, RV, or condos who desire to keep a pet as an exciting companion.

When Do Mini Goldendoodle Pups Stop Growing?

Calculating or measuring the growth of Mini Goldendoodles can be quite tasking because they are a mixed breed from hybrid parents.

These puppies weigh almost a pound at birth which then doubles 2 weeks after their birth. Within 3 to 12 weeks of their birth, you will observe a significant development in their growth rate. By the time your Mini Goldendoodle pup is 4 months old, it would have achieved half of its adult weight. This marks the end of your dog’s impressive growth spurts, and from this point, your dog’s growth rate will slow down, as well as its appetite.

Determining when your cute puppy will turn into an adult and stop growing is solely based on the size of the parent Poodle and Golden Retriever. At 6 to 8 months, your Mini Goldendoodle would have attained full adult size.

Is the Mini Goldendoodle the Smallest Goldendoodle?

The Mini Goldendoodle, compared to other dogs, is certainly not the smallest dog. The Petite Goldendoodle, for instance, is smaller.

The significant difference between the Mini and Petite Goldendoodles is their size. Mini Goldendoodles are bigger and weigh much more than Petite Goldendoodles. Petite Goldendoodles weigh 20 pounds and stand at 15 inches tall.

There are several similarities between Mini Goldendoodles and Petite Goldendoodles. They are both intelligent, smart, and have a coat of short fur, as well as a lot of energy. They are also hypoallergenic and friendly pets to keep at home, particularly for families with young children.

Mini Goldendoodles can reach their full size based on different factors, such as breed, gender, age, and diet.

Breed

The combination of the genes from a Golden Retriever and a Toy Poodle leads to the formation of a new breed of Mini Goldendoodles. Their parent breed can determine how their sizes will be.

Gender

The male Mini Goldendoodle is naturally bigger and tends to have more fur layers than the female Mini Goldendoodle.

Age

The average lifespan of a Mini Goldendoodle ranges from 13 to 17 years. Though they are commonly regarded as the smaller breed of dogs, they tend to live a longer life than other types of Goldendoodles, whose lifespan ranges from 10 to 12 years.

Diet

The type of food your dog eats and how it feeds plays an essential role in determining his growth rate. If your dog is not being fed properly, it will not attain its full size and will also be exposed to health challenges, although all dogs have their fair share of health challenges.

Ensure that your Mini Goldendoodle is continuously fed with puppy food, even if it has already attained adulthood. It is highly recommended that you take your pet to the veterinarian to ascertain if your dog has reached maturity.

Are Mini Goldendoodles Good Pets?

Yes, Mini Goldendoodles are good pets. Mini Goldendoodles are trainable, loving, playful, gentle-natured, fun, intelligent, and homely pets that have inherited a blended mix of traits from their parent breeds. They act as guides and service dogs, most especially for persons with disabilities, and they are also very friendly with young children.
