When it comes to the cutest dogs in the world, there is one breed that reigns supreme: the Yorkshire terrier, fondly known as the Yorkie. These tiny little balls of fluff are the epitome of adorableness — anytime you see one, you’ll want to pick it up and snuggle it forever. Yorkies are packed with personality, and spunk, always ready to play but also deeply loyal to the humans they love. A Yorkie can be the perfect addition to any family looking for some extra love and mischief. Ready to see some of the cutest Yorkies in the world? Let’s dive in!

The Yorkshire Terrier

Like a brilliant ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, Yorkshire terriers are adorable pups that can always make you smile. With their big hearts and even bigger personalities, these precious pooches are truly one-of-a-kind companions. Yorkies are fiercely loyal to their humans but are also spunky, curious, and always up for a fun adventure. Standard Yorkies are typically 7 to 8 inches tall and weigh up to seven pounds. Their small size and big dog personalities make them absolutely adorable dogs to be around. So, let’s take a closer look at the 15 cutest Yorkies in the world!

1. Giant Yorkie

Yorkies are typically just 7 to 8 inches tall and weigh only three to seven pounds — but every once in a while, a larger puppy is born, which many fondly refer to as the “giant Yorkie”. Although giant yorkies are not a separate breed, many people like to call them “giant Yorkies” because they look so much bigger than your average Yorkie. A giant Yorkie is not a big dog by any stretch of the imagination, but they are much bigger than your average-sized Yorkie. Giant Yorkies are often over 9 inches tall, and some can even weigh up to 15 pounds — that’s at least double the size of other Yorkies!

In spite of their larger size, giant Yorkies are just like any other standard Yorkie. They are still purebred Yorkies — they just grew a little bigger than expected, which is what makes them one of the cutest Yorkies in the world!

2. Teacup Yorkie

On the other side of the spectrum is the teacup Yorkie. If you thought a standard-sized Yorkie was small, just wait until you see these tiny pups — teacup yorkies usually weigh just two to four pounds! Measuring 5 to 7 inches tall, these little dogs are just about the right size to fit in a teacup. Like giant Yorkies, teacup Yorkies are still purebred Yorkshire terriers — they’re just much smaller. Teacup Yorkies are the result of breeding small Yorkies together, so these dogs are pretty rare. In addition, while teacup Yorkies are no doubt some of the cutest Yorkies in the world, their small size also comes with many health issues, and they can get hurt very easily.

3. Parti Yorkie

Parti Yorkies are still purebred Yorkshire terriers but because of a recessive gene may come in white, black, or tan coloring.

One of the cutest Yorkies you’ll ever see is the parti Yorkie. Parti Yorkies are still purebred Yorkshire terriers — they just have different colors. These beautiful dogs most commonly have a white base coat with brown or black patches. Parti Yorkies often come in a combination of different colors, although the most common you’ll see is white, black, and tan. Their unique coloring comes from a special recessive gene, so to get a parti Yorkie both parents need to have the parti color gene.

Parti Yorkies have been around for a very long time, although it has only been recently that they have become so popular. In fact, Ernest Hemingway’s grandfather had a white Yorkie! Sadly, however, for much of the breed’s history white parti Yorkies were actually looked down upon. People thought that if a Yorkie had white hair, it meant that they were not purebred, so breeders would secretly get rid of them or even kill them. However, in the 1980s one Yorkshire terrier breeder refused to get rid of their new parti Yorkie pup, and this led to a new trend. Their rarity suddenly made parti Yorkies coveted dogs instead of cast-offs!

4. Biewer Yorkshire Terrier

The name of this next cute Yorkie is actually pronounced “beaver” — yep, just like the cute little animal that builds dams. Biewer Yorkies get their name from the original German breeders, Werner and Gertrud Biewer. While Yorkies traditionally only have two colors (except for the parti yorkie), the Biewer’s were surprised to find a little pup in one of their litters that grew into a beautiful blue, gold, and white yorkie with a very rare recessive piebald gene. Through selective breeding, more and more of these unique Yorkies began to pop up — so much so that today the Biewer Yorkshire terrier is actually considered its own separate breed!

So, what’s the difference between a parti Yorkie and a Biewer Yorkshire terrier? Well, the Biewer Yorkshire terrier has a tri-colored head with black, blue, gold, or white coloring (without any brown). The dog’s legs, belly, chest, and tail are all white. Parti Yorkies, on the other hand, have all kinds of different colors and color combinations. Biewer Yorkshire terriers’ tails are also not docked like standard Yorkies are. In addition, Biewer Yorkshire terriers are a bit more active and affectionate than Yorkies are.

5. Chocolate Yorkie

What’s not to love when you combine dogs and chocolate? The chocolate Yorkie is a rare color of the Yorkie breed. Its rich chocolate brown fur coat is the result of double recessive genes with the mutation of the TYRP1 gene. Their unique genetics make chocolate Yorkies some of the rarest Yorkies out there! However, because of this, some breeders may breed a Yorkie with another brown dog to get a similar result — which is why it’s important to do your research first so that you don’t get scammed!

Although many chocolate Yorkies are a deep, rich brown color, others are lighter tan or bronze. Some dogs may also have white patches on their paws, legs, or chests. However, all chocolate Yorkies typically have brown paw pads, noses, and lips.

6. Morkie (Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese Mix)

Not every cute Yorkie has to be a purebred pooch of course — there are so many adorable Yorkie mixes out there, it’s hard to choose which are the cutest Yorkies in the world! However, the Morkie (a Yorkshire terrier and Maltese mix), is certainly a top contender. These pint-sized pups are bursting with personality. They are sure to make you smile with their adorable teddy bear faces and playful attitudes.

Morkies are always ready for an adventure and will never leave your side. They may be small, but they still have the tough-guy terrier attitude of a Yorkie mixed with the stubborn streak of a Maltese. However, thanks to their Maltese heritage, Morkies tend to be a bit more chill than some of the other Yorkie mixes.

7. Yorkipom (Yorkshire Terrier and Pomeranian Mix)

The Yoranian, Yorkipom, Porkiepom, or Porkie — what’s not to love about a dog with a super cute name like that? Yorkipoms are the crossbreed of a Yorkshire terrier and a Pomeranian. These cute pups have a darling foxlike appearance with plenty of spunk and energy. However, if you’re thinking about adopting a Yorkipom, make sure you have a good pair of walking shoes, because these little dynamos have tons of energy. They require lots of exercise and playtime to stay happy and healthy.

In addition, they are prone to attitude issues from both parents, so regular training is non-negotiable. However, the curious nature and social spirit of Yorkipoms make them the life of any party and will entertain you for hours on end.

8. Corkie (Yorkshire Terrier and Cocker Spaniel Mix)

Corkies tend to be small to medium-sized dogs that weigh around 12 to 25 pounds with soft, fluffy coats and soulful eyes.

The corkie is an adorable furry canine that is confident, friendly, and playful. These cute Yorkies are the result of crossbreeding of a Yorkshire terrier and a cocker spaniel. In general, corkies tend to be small to medium-sized dogs that weigh around 12 to 25 pounds and stand about 9 to 13 inches tall. They have soft, fluffy coats and soulful eyes that make them look like sweet little teddy bears. However, the density and length of their luscious fur coats also mean that they need regular grooming.

Corkies have a happy-go-lucky demeanor and love to play. They are wonderful and joyful family dogs for both adults and children. Corkies adore their humans and want to be around them all the time, so they can get clingy. As long as they have someone to hang out with though, they are happy.

9. Peekie or Yorkinese (Yorkshire Terrier and Pekingese Mix)

A Yorkshire terrier and Pekingese mix makes an excellent snuggly sidekick. Peekies are wonderful companions and are happy to grace your lap with their regal appearance and mellow temperament. They do not require as much physical activity as other Yorkie breeds, so with a short daily walk, they can stay in tip-top shape.

Peekies are sweet laptop dogs with gentle souls, but they do not like to rough house, so they are best for families without children or with older children who can be gentle with them.

10. Shorkie (Yorkshire Terrier and Shih Tzu Mix)

If you’re looking for a snuggly little shadow who will follow you around the house, then a shorkie may be just the right fit! These charming canines are a mix of Yorkshire Terrier and shih tzu, resulting in a perfect blend of spunk and calm. Although they are small and cute pups, shorkies are sturdy and jump for joy when it’s playtime.

In addition, their shih tzu heritage helps to keep some of their terrier tendencies in check, which makes this Yorkie mixes very lovable. They are very loyal companions for families of all shapes and sizes. Shorkies have luxuriously soft fur coats, but you will need to pay extra attention when it comes to grooming. Their soft coats can become matted if you do not care for them properly, thanks to their shih tzu genes.

11. Bichon Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier and Bichon Frisé Mix)

Also referred to as a Yorkie bichon, Yo-chon, or a borkie, a bichon yorkie is a delightful mix of a Yorkshire terrier and a bichon frisé. These little sweethearts are bred to be the ultimate companions and love sitting snugly in your lap. Although they are toy-sized dogs, bichon Yorkies are also furry little bundles of energy.

These pups are inquisitive, non-conformist, and wholeheartedly devoted to those that they love. Bichon Yorkies are loving and loyal companions for life, with a strong desire to please their owners. However, as highly intelligent watchdogs, they have a surprisingly loud and high-pitched bark that they aren’t afraid to use. Bichon Yorkies also have gorgeous long hair and fine fur coats, but they require regular grooming and can shed quite a bit.

12. Yorkie Poo or Yorkipoo (Yorkshire Terrier and Toy or Miniature Poodle Mix)

You never really know what you’re going to get with the super cute Yorkiepoo. These little firecrackers are a mix of a Yorkshire terrier and a poodle (either a toy, teacup, or miniature), so they come in all types of different patterns and colors. Some have sleek and fluffy fur that makes you want to snuggle, while other dogs may have fur that is a bit more coarse and scruffy.

The spirited nature of a Yorkie and the affectionate charm of a poodle makes these darling dogs some of the cutest Yorkies in the world. Yorkipoos are both sweet and feisty and often don’t realize how small they really are. They develop deep bonds with their humans and love to snuggle. These sassy dogs are also super smart, making them great and trainable companions as well.

13. Snorkie (Yorkshire Terrier and Miniature Schnauzer Mix)

This little ball of energy is the crossbreed of a Yorkshire terrier and a miniature schnauzer. Snorkies are outgoing and bold pups who are always ready to play and explore. They are amazing with children and love to be part of the family. Just be sure to give them plenty of attention — snorkies can bark and start chewing if they feel ignored. With enough socialization, training, and stimulation, however, snorkies make excellent cuddle buddies.

Grooming can present a bit of a challenge with these dogs since their coats are often coarser and require constant clipping to keep them looking sharp. Fortunately, though, a snorkie’s fun-loving nature makes up for any snarls or tangles in their fur.

14. Havashire (Yorkshire Terrier and Havanese Mix)

The offspring of a Yorkie and a Havanese, Havashires are lively and athletic dogs that develop deep bonds with their families. These little beauties can be a bit aloof with new people and have fiercely protective natures. However, they are also affectionate and very loving pups with a happy-go-lucky nature. Havashires love nothing more than being with their human families. So, if you don’t have time for a four-legged companion that’ll stick to you like glue, then this isn’t the dog for you. But if you can give them the attention they crave, Havanshires can be the most loyal and devoted dogs you’ll ever meet!

15. King Charles Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Mix)

This regal pooch is one of the cutest Yorkies in the world! The King Charles Yorkie (or Yorkie cav or Yorkalier) is the result of breeding a Yorkshire Terrier and a Cavalier King Charles spaniel together. These cute little pups typically do not stand more than 13 inches tall and rarely weigh more than 18 pounds. However, their small bodies are packed with plenty of personality and charm. King Charles Yorkies have gentle souls and affectionate demeanors that are sure to make you fall in love with them! These mellow lap dogs love to snuggle and are very loyal companions. However, thanks to the spunky and spirited personalities of both of their parent breeds, King Charles Yorkies are also very playful and love to play.

King Charles Yorkies have luxuriously soft and silky coats that can come in a variety of captivating colors. However, their hair is also fine, which means that they are not made for chilly weather and will need plenty of snuggles and maybe even a cozy sweater to stay warm.
