Your natal astrology chart represents the position of each of the planets and luminaries, and several other space objects, at the time of your birth. Most people are familiar with their sun sign because a full star chart is not necessary for that. It is simply based on the date. To get your full chart, you need a natal chart reading from a professional astrologer. You can also use one of several apps or websites to get a more basic analysis.

Each planet in your astrology chart has a different meaning for your life and personality. Your sun sign represents your overall personality and approach to life, but the other planets are also important. Looking at your full chart can give you a greater understanding of yourself especially if you don’t feel like your sun sign fully represents who you are.

What Does Your Mercury Sign Mean?

In your natal zodiac chart, your Mercury sign represents where the planet was in the 12 zodiac constellations at the time and place of your birth. It represents your relationship to learning, communication, travel, analysis, and intellectual pursuits. It connects to how you like to communicate, what type of first impression you make, and what types of things pique your curiosity.

It is named after the Roman god Mercury, who is the Roman equivalent to the Greek god Hermes. Mercury was the messenger god and ruled over communication, travel, thievery and mischief, and commerce. He was pictured with wings on his feet, which helped to move quickly. It makes sense that the planet Mercury shares his name. It is the speediest planet, orbiting the sun in only 88 days.

Because Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, it is common to have the same Mercury sign as your sun sign. If it is not the same as your sun sign, it is most likely the sign before or after your sun sign.
