Have you ever been surprised at your strength? Whether it was opening a pickle jar, being able to lift something heavy out of the car, or changing furniture around in your house with no one to help you? Well, let’s watch this elephant in the above video show that he’s not very shocked at how strong he is.

Think You Can?

At the start of this video, we see that this elephant is off a paved road. The tourists or citizens of this country have stopped to see what this elephant will be doing. He goes over to the tree and starts to rub against it, which is particularly unusual. Males in musth may rub up against trees, leaving their scent.

The National Institute of Health describes musth as “increased testosterone production, temporal gland secretion and urine dribbling, heightened aggression and sexual behavior.” A good side note here would be if an elephant is in musth they can prove dangerous to humans so it is best to stay clear if you know they are.

As this large mammal starts to rub on the tree, we see him circle the tree and place his trunk on a branch up high that he can reach. Suddenly, he starts to rock the tree back and forth. He does it with such force that the entire tree is shaking from the base to the top of the tree. We see the tree start to break and fall to the ground. And the elephant stands back as if saying, “I’ve done what I came here to do.”

How Powerful is an Elephant?

We bet you were shocked to see this elephant knock over a tree. And it makes us wonder just how powerful these animals are. Elephants of the family Elephantidae are the largest animals on earth. Elephants carry with them up to 12,000 pounds and a PSI of 2,200

In addition to their incredible PSI, they can carry up to 9,000 kilograms (19,841 pounds). One Kind Planet organization equates that to the weight of 130 adults. With an elephant having the strength to carry that much weight, it is no wonder this elephant in the above video could knock this tree over as if he does it daily.
