Becoming one with nature can have many different meanings. And in the case of this video below, this family felt one with nature. Because they were so close to these gorgeous whales. They were able to see them so close to the boat. They were also able to come up to the boat. This was a sight this family will remember for the rest of their lives!

Killer Whale Sighting in Three Tree Point in South Puget Sound

The next video posted at the bottom of this blog post takes us to Three Tree Point in South Puget Sound, located in Washington

“On the evening of Friday, August 26th with a beautiful sunset in the background, we encountered this family of Orcas near our home on Three Tree Point in South Puget Sound. We took a very wide path around the pod and cut our motor several hundred feet away to watch these amazing animals swimming South. What happened next was breathtaking and unforgettable.”

Are Killer Whales Aggressive?

orca

Killer whales are carnivores that eat seals, fish, and squid.

These killer whales were able to get to this family. It begs the question if killer whales will be aggressive to humans. With the name “killer” involved in the name, it might seem we need to be fearful of them. However, as we see, there was no harm done to this family out boating on this day.

We know that most animals are not aggressive toward humans. It is always good to do our research and find out if the particular animal we are studying is or is not aggressive toward humans.

Killer whales (Orcinus orca) of the Genus Orcinus are large whales that weigh anywhere from 6,000-15,000 pounds. An interesting fact about these large whales is the amount of food that they consume to keep up with their weight. “An adult orca eats up to 300 pounds of food each day.”

Though called killer whales or orcas, they are not considered to be dangerous. As always, here at A-Z Animals, we always throw in a cautionary: “Just because an animal isn’t generally known to be aggressive doesn’t mean they can’t.” We have to respect the animals that are in our oceans and not provoke them to be angry, scared, or feel threatened in any manner.

Now you can finally watch the video posted below. Soak in the beauty of these animals as you watch every second!
