There are separate spaces for small and large dogs, so that’s a big plus.

You can bring other family members along, as there are picnic tables, where you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner outdoors. The merrier! The better!

You won’t have to worry about bringing water, as there are multiple water fountains and three ponds your pet will go crazy about! Two pools are for big dogs, and the third is for smaller breeds. There’s also a bath station in case your furry friend gets dirty while playing with other dogs.

Johnny Steele Dog Park can be found near Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard. It’s a 2-acre park that features dog washing areas, benches for people, shade structures, and water fountains that dogs can use. One of the most popular facilities in the park is the pond; your pup will enjoy it, especially if it loves swimming!

We recommend checking the park rules to ensure you’re up to date. For example, you can’t bring more than two dogs per person, and you can stay only one hour per dog. Another rule is that dogs taller than 15 inches are not allowed in the area designated for small breeds.

Here’s what you’ll find in the park: multiple water fountains, benches, restrooms, dog showers, bag dispensers, trash receptacles, and designated areas for agility courses.

Westwillow Dog Park is located within Westwillow Park and consists of 2 separate dog parks – one for large breeds and one for smaller breeds. One thing dog owners love about this park is the training activities. It’s a great opportunity to meet other dog owners. Moreover, your pup will have the chance to socialize with other furry friends.

Besides this, the park is a natural gem, so you’ll enjoy your time there! If you bring your kids along, even better! They’ll have fun at the playground!

6. TC Jester Dog Park

TC Jester Dog Park
Location4201 T C Jester Blvd, Houston, TX 77018
Hours6 AM – 8 PM
PriceFree

A 1.08-acre park, TC Jester Dog Park has two separate areas for small and large breeds, both equipped with dog water fountains and benches for people. It’s usually pretty crowded here, so if your pup enjoys socializing with other dogs, TC Jester Dog Park could be a great choice. Still, even if your dog is not so “talkative,” you can go for a walk in the evening when it’s more peaceful and quiet.

If you visit the park after a rainfall, make sure you bring along something to clean up your dog, as the area is a bit dusty. Don’t forget to keep your dog on a leash while entering and leaving the park, even though this is an off-leash area.

Location4502 Dunlavy St, Houston, TX 77006
Hours6 AM – 9 PM

Ervan Chew Dog Park was the first park in Houston where dogs could run freely! The park is managed by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and was created with the help of the funding provided by the Friends of Ervan Chew Park. One thing to consider if you plan to visit it: there aren’t separate areas for larger and smaller dog breeds. If you have a small breed that’s a bit shy, we recommend choosing a park with a special area for small pups.

The dog area is around 9,000 square feet, so your pup can run around and play with other furry friends! There’s a picnic area, a playground, and a baseball field nearby, where you and your family can have a great time!

8. Gene Green Dog Park

Gene Green Dog Park
Location6500 East Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston TX 77049
Hours7 AM – 9:30 PM

Gene Green Dog Park is definitely at the top of the list when it comes to taking your pup out for a good run. It’s a large park with wooded trails, a swimming pond, and a separate area for small dogs. The swimming pond is for larger dogs, but don’t worry, there’s a splash pad just for the tiny pups!

There’s no need to bring water, as there are water stations for dogs and water fountains for humans all over the park.
