The Place of Peace was built in 1984, donated to the University in 2004, and transported to campus in 2008. It is the first Japanese temple ever to be dismantled and reconstructed in America.

The Asia Garden, which adjoins the Place of Peace, invites serenity and meditation with a landscape that includes Japanese maple varieties, lizard tail, bamboo, and iris. A koi pond is at the center of the garden.
