There’s nothing quite as spectacular as going on a safari. It gives us mere humans a chance to spend time with wild animals in their natural habitats. The possibilities are endless when you reserve a safari. A must-see national landmark in Malawi is Liwonde National Park, which is situated close to Lake Malombe’s southernmost point.

Liwonde National Park, Malawi’s most well-known national park, is packed with wildlife that you won’t see in your backyard, despite the fact that Malawi is not as well known for its enormous animals as other African nations.

While visiting the park, a bunch of visitors had a pleasant surprise. Thank goodness, one of the guests captured the incredible scene on camera for all of us to witness from the comfort of our homes. A herd of elephants is seen just starting to traverse a river in the clip. They’re moving rather slowly till the front of the herd stops.

The trunk of a juvenile elephant is attacked by a crocodile as it arises from the water. The crocodile clings on despite the elephants’ cries for help. As the herd starts to flee, the area is filled with the sounds of the elephants trumpeting.

A Battle of Strength

While it’s impressive how well the crocodile holds on, we can’t help but think how inexperienced the animal must be to think it could take on an entire elephant. Both the elephants and the man who is capturing the video are noticeably terrified. It’s safe to say that everyone would be in a state of shock if they witnessed this happening in front of them.

In their first year, young elephants put on two to three pounds every day, as reported by the San Diego Zoo. Using this data, we can estimate the weight of a newborn elephant who is a year old and weighs between 930 and 1,400 pounds!

It’s incredible to watch the herd of elephants band together. Although they do back up intentionally, it doesn’t take long for them to burst into action to help their fellow elephant. A comment on the video with over 6,000 likes reads:

“Elephants were shocked at first but when they were back in senses the big one pushed the croc away. Elephants are the true powerful beasts.” We couldn’t agree more – elephants are wildly powerful animals.

Elephants are powerful creatures that can carry 770 pounds with just their trunks. Additionally, they have a lift force of approximately 2,100 pounds, which is nearly 21 times greater than that of a human. Elephants can bite with a force of about 2,175 PSI, which is astounding. These herbivores nevertheless face predators like lions, alligators, and hyenas regardless of their size and power.
