Everybody has to eat, and the great white shark in this story is no exception. Unfortunately, for a seal swimming nearby, he’s the main course.

Watch the Video Footage Below

The video begins with some incredible underwater footage of the seal. He moves gracefully through the water, propelling himself along with his flippers. The seal twists and turns in the water just a few feet below the surface. However, the suspenseful music playing over the video should tell us something is about to happen.

Sure enough, a shark enters the frame. But it’s not just any shark; it’s a giant great white shark. Thanks to some shark bait dangling from a rope, he has likely come to see what is going on. A cage nearby indicates that the people taking the video are probably part of a shark diving company.

The seal moves behind the shark, reaching the surface every few seconds. Maybe the seal is after the food as well. He stays nearby as the shark moves through the water.

Video taken from the boat shows the shark going after the seal. He almost gets him in his powerful jaws, but the seal evades capture a few times. The music continues to play over the video as the tension ramps up.

Sharks move by propelling themselves from side to side. Viewers can see that motion just below the surface. The shark also turns quickly to keep up with the fast-moving seal as he tries to escape. The seal dives in and out of the water, using his maneuverability. The shark is faster and more powerful, so the seal must outmaneuver him if he wants to escape.

Unfortunately for the seal, it just isn’t his day. The shark lunges forward and gets the seal in his jaws, just inches from the boat and the camera above. When shown in slow motion, you can see the shark’s teeth clamp down on the seal’s tail and drag him under the water.
