Watch a House-Sized Moose Stroll Right Past a Man Hiding Behind a Tree

Picture it: It’s a beautiful day and you fancy a stroll in a lush forest. With towering trees, chirping birds, and the perfect weather, it sounds like an ideal way to spend an afternoon. During your walk, you hear something behind you so you quickly hide behind a tree.

This is exactly what one man experienced on an otherwise normal day. As he camouflages himself behind a tree, he films what was making all that ruckus behind him: a giant moose! The moose is the largest species of deer. 

Originally, the Native Americans who lived along Alaska’s major rivers benefited greatly from this creature as a source of food and cloth. Nevertheless, they also pack a rather hefty punch, weighing greater than the typical motorbike.

Moose weigh over 1,000 pounds and measure six feet tall from foot to shoulder. Moose are usually not violent toward humans, but if disturbed, they can be dangerous. Unlike their near relative the deer, moose don’t typically fear people, thus they won’t flee if you approach them.

Because they are not afraid, it is more appealing to interact with them. However, moose, like the majority of animals, will protect their offspring and their home range if they feel intimidated. The person in this video made a smart call by hiding behind the tree when they spotted the giant animal. 

Minding Your Own Business

As the person is tucked behind the greenery, the moose casually walks by on the dirt path. With how close this individual is, we truly get an up-close look at this gorgeous creature. In the Northern Hemisphere of the US, moose inhabit forested areas and the vicinity of lakes, ponds, and streams. For people who enjoy the outdoors, their habitats make for the perfect vacation destinations.

Moose are renowned for having exceptional hearing. Their calls can carry about two miles, and their ears are more than 60 times bigger than those of a human. If you’re hiding behind a tree, it’s likely that this animal can hear you breathing. While they will be able to hear you, their vision isn’t quite as sharp.

They have very poor vision, almost blindness, but make up for it with highly developed senses of hearing and smell. Because they don’t have enough cones, moose are color-blind. They’re incredibly nearsighted, making it difficult for them to spot anything in the distance. 

They must move their eyes forward to view items in front of them because of the size of their blind area caused by their eye location. They can, however, individually move each of their ears and eyes.
