When we think of battles in Africa, our minds go to an intense one-on-one battle between two apex predators, perhaps between a lion and a leopard. However, in this case, we see a battle happening between a large lion pride and a hyena pack.

Wild Animal Sightings in Africa
This next YouTube video posted at the bottom of the link takes us to Africa. The YouTube channel that posted this video was done by the Incredible Wild Animals Sighting. According to their description, they are dedicated to providing an incredible place where people can come to see the wild animals in Africa.
To date, this video posted just a week ago has received more than 13,000 views! They share their thoughts on what happened in the video below.
“The lions’ pride vs hyenas pack rambles fighting over food to get and lions is a powerful predator but hyenas is predator also with strong come into group attack by lions that it scared away.”
Pack Vs. Pride
At the start of the video, we see the open plains of Africa. And there is a clear division of the battle that is about to happen. On one side of the playing field, we have a vicious lion pride. These apex predators, known as the kings of the jungle, are feasting on a kill they have just completed.
On the other side of the playing field, we have an incredibly wild hyena pack. These animals that get a bad rep for their attitude and their ugly appearance are ready to rush in. If we pause the video at six seconds and zoom in, we can see this hyena line. Their paws are itching to gun forward and start this fight.
Finally, at seven seconds, we see a lion start this fight! He lunges forward, and a massive battle breaks out over food!

When we look at the lion and hyena, we see both vicious animals. Both can do great harm in a fight. Of course, we can’t say for certain in every situation who would come out on top. However, lions are the apex predators of the animal kingdom. And that just isn’t an empty phrase they go by.
According to the Lion Recovery Fund, “Lions are the apex predator of the African savanna. They play a critical role in managing large herbivore populations of buffalos, impalas, zebras, and even elephants and giraffes. In a balanced ecosystem, the number of herbivores needs to be kept in check. If there are too many herbivores, the vegetation is overgrazed and habitats inevitably degrade.”
