Nothing beats spending an afternoon on the water, casting a reel, hoping for a big catch. That’s exactly what a group of fishermen were doing when they noticed something tugging on their reel.

The marlin is one of the world’s fastest fish, making it extremely challenging for skilled fishermen to catch. So you can imagine how ecstatic a bunch of fishermen felt when they snagged a 600-pound behemoth off the coast of Cairns, Australia

One of the three fishermen starts the exciting video by capturing his companions trying to land a marlin that one of them had caught onto. The three men, who had hooked onto the beast out at sea, soon realized they were in trouble when a school of tiger sharks started to feed on the fish.

The man who was shooting the entire debacle while aboard the boat soon became aware of what had occurred and notified his buddies. His friends were first skeptical as they tried to reel in the fish from a lower deck.

Two enormous tiger sharks seemed to be battling over the fish when they abruptly rose to the surface of the water. The two massive sharks battling over the fish moved closer to the boat, and the sailors started to fear.

Sharks rarely bite people, however, the tiger shark is one of the most destructive shark species and is said to be involved in a significant number of fatal shark bite events. They frequently visit harbors, waterways, and shallow reefs, which increases the possibility of running into people.

Because tiger sharks are among the most deadly sharks to humans, it’s obvious that the men on the boat start to worry. One of the fishermen abruptly starts to draw up the line just when it seems like the situation is getting out of hand.

Instead of a massive 600-pound marlin, there was only the fish’s decapitated head in the end. The two gigantic sharks had devoured the creature’s entire body. The fish’s severed head is raised by one of the men after being loaded onto the boat.

The marlin is one of the fastest fish in the sea, capable of reaching speeds of 68 miles per hour. Had it not already been caught on the fishing hook, it likely could’ve escaped its fate. The comments on the video linked above point out the same thing over and over again.

During the interaction, a fisherman can be spotted wrapping the fishing line around his hand. The shark pulling at the line seems to be doing some of the work as well. No matter what, never wrap the fishing line around your body. You could get pulled into the water or the weight of the animal on the hook could sever your body part.

Safety first, friends!
