A Vermont man trekked into an icy river to save a drowning dog last Friday. Chris MacRitchie first noticed the dog in peril while going through a Dunkin’ drive-thru after his son pointed out the struggling animal. MacRitchie, clad in only a T-shirt, waded waist-deep into frigid waters surrounded by snowy embankments.
After crossing the river to save the dog, he carried it to safety. The dog, Arizona, was returned to its owner, who expressed her gratitude and described MacRitchie as “selfless” and “commendable.” MacRitchie himself discussed the duty he felt toward rescuing the animal, making him an animal hero. Find out more about the incredible rescue here.
