For those of us who have been on pins and needles awaiting the arrival of Jackie’s and Shadow’s new hatchlings, the wait is over. Late Monday night, the first hatchling was caught on the live cam feed showing its head and one wing. Its official hatch time is stated as 23:26 p.m. on Monday, March 3.
By early Tuesday morning, the second hatchling began to emerge and by 4:29 a.m. Tuesday morning, the second eaglet had also emerged. At present, more than 62,000 are watching the live stream of the eagle’s nest as this new family gets acquainted.

We are now officially keeping an eye out for the third egg’s pip, or cracks and holes that show up when a fledgling begins to emerge. For reference, the eggs were laid on 1/22/25, 1/25/25, and 1/28/25, and incubation is typically 35 days on average.
Congrats to Jackie and Shadow! Track their story at friendsofbigbearvalley.org.
