National Reptile Awareness Day is celebrated annually on October 21 to foster appreciation for these often-misunderstood cold-blooded vertebrates. There are approximately 300 species of reptiles in the United States, a diverse group that includes snakes, lizards, turtles, and crocodilians. Approximately six million U.S. households keep reptiles as pets, and this number is increasing largely due to the popularity of bearded dragons and geckos. In honor of National Reptile Awareness Day, A-Z-Animals has created a list of seven reptile-themed items for the cold-blooded vertebrate lover on your list.
