Warning: this video might give you puppy fever. Puppies are always cute, of course, but this one in particular will make you want to hop in the car and drive to your nearest adoption center to bring a new dog home immediately. (Ask us how we know!) This video of the cutest pup ever went viral on TikTok because it’s so darn precious, and we are watching it on repeat.

TikToker @livingwithlily_ shared a video of their mini Dachshund pup named Lily. The dog, also known as a sausage dog or a long dog, rounds the corner of the couch and comes barreling toward the camera. She’s so cute with her big eyes, long hair, and boundless energy.

The blonde dog runs on her little legs, but stops when she sees her owner. Then Lily jumps up and starts racing again, heading off-screen and appearing to tackle her owner—or perhaps she just rushes past. It’s impossible to tell what happens next because the video abruptly cuts off, but we can only assume it ended with a flurry of sweet puppy breath and doggy kisses. We just want to reach through the screen and cuddle this adorable doxie!

People loved this video, with several saying she is “cuteness overload” and “soo adorable.” We couldn’t agree more — it’s six seconds of pure, unfiltered joy! Seriously, how are you supposed to get anything done with this furry ball of adorableness in your life? It would be impossible.

All About Mini Daschunds

Mini Dachshunds weigh less than 11 pounds when fully grown.

Thinking about adopting after watching the video? I don’t want to say, “I told you so,” but…

If you want a tiny dog that will stay puppy-sized its whole life, a mini Dachshund like Lily is the way to go. These dogs are smaller versions of a standard Dachshund, but have all the same features. They typically weigh under 11 pounds and stand around 5 to 6 inches at the shoulder, compared to 16 to 32 pounds and 8 to 9 inches for a standard Dachshund dog.

These dogs were bred to hunt down badgers in the 1400s. (Their German name breaks down to “dachs” meaning “badger” and “hund” meaning “dog.”) They were also used to hunt rabbits and still have a fondness for digging, barking, and chasing prey.

The coats of mini Dachshunds vary, as they can be smooth, wiry, or long, with many different color combinations. These dogs are known for having big personalities, which means they can be stubborn but also extremely playful and lovable.

How Big Will It Get?

Dachshunds can have many different coat styles and colors.

Mini Dachshunds typically weigh 5-6 pounds at 3 months, 8-9 pounds at 6 months, and reach their full size between 10 and 11 pounds by 9 months. They are usually quite active dogs (as you can see in the video) and need regular exercise to burn off their energy. By 8 to 12 months, mini Dachshunds will typically reach their full adult height and weight. And they will just keep getting cuter, too.

How Long Do They Live?

Luckily for mini Dachshund owners, these little dogs typically live longer than other dog breeds. With the right nutrition and care, they can live up to 12 to 15 years. They are great dogs for a variety of situations, including living in apartments, houses with yards, with other pets and children, or even as the only pet. They are energetic and lively, so keep that in mind if you are looking for a chill dog. (They may not be much bigger than stuffies, but they are much more active!)

However, there are some health problems that mini Dachshunds are prone to, which potential owners should be aware of. These include intervertebral disc disease, the most common spinal disease in dogs, which can lead to dehydration, bladder issues, and even paralysis. They are also prone to epilepsy, progressive retinal atrophy, and gastric dilation-volvulus. Like all dogs, taking them to the vet regularly will help keep them healthy.

What’s Lily Like Now?

Mini Dachshunds are playful with big personalities.

The viral video of Lily running toward the camera is a few years old, but you can still get cuteness on your feed by following the dog owner’s account. They share funny videos of Lily showing off her “post bath zoomies,” trying new foods like strawberries, playing with other animals, and more. Mini Dachshunds are just as cute when they grow up as when they are puppies, and this account proves it! Owning a mini Dachshund is a big commitment, but their constant adorableness and love make it all worth it.
