Aries (March 21-April 19): Cactus

As the first sign of the zodiac, being an Aries means you’re quite the leader. Not only are you passionate and driven, but you’re also a bit prickly when challenged–not because you aren’t open to it, but because your way of doing things is often tried and true! A cactus is a great houseplant choice for a fiery Aries, as it taps into your elemental roots.

Cacti are desert natives, prone to living through long periods of drought and neglect. An Aries perseveres no matter the circumstances, staying busy and creative even when it feels like everything is against you. When kept as houseplants, cacti bring a welcome brightness and uniqueness to any home, so long as you don’t accidentally touch their barbs!

Taurus (April 20-May 20): Money Tree

It isn’t a secret that wealth is a key motivator for any Taurus, besides elegance and stability. Despite being an earth sign, the average Taurus has an appreciation for the finer things– this is a sign that is aware of the cost of these things. From an aesthetic and meaningful point of view, the money tree is a great astrological houseplant choice for the average Taurus.

Classified as pachira aquatica or pachira glabra, the money tree is a unique ornamental tree grown for its symbolism and braided trunk. A Taurus is constantly manifesting success and luck in their careers, something that a money tree naturally brings into a home. Keep one in a set place as, like most Tauruses, money trees don’t like being moved around too much.

Gemini (May 21-June 20): Spider Plant

Easy to cultivate, share, and propagate, spider plants represent the notorious Gemini. Scientifically classified as chlorophytum comosum, spider houseplants are nearly unkillable, forming trails and vines of bright green foliage. This plant’s lofting and hanging ability gives any home an airy and casual feel, something that a Gemini manufactures naturally.

An interesting fact about spider plants is that they are constantly creating babies or twins of themselves. Spider plants produce plant sprouts with every blooming period, making it easy to remove these young plants as your houseplant ages. The mutable and giving nature of Gemini is made manifest in spider plants, as you can easily share these propagated plant babies with all of your friends!

Cancer (June 21-July 22): Jade Plant

jade plants

bring beauty for decades.

There is something dignified and attractive about jade plants, something that is deeply rooted in the average Cancer. A variety of succulent, jade plants are scientifically classified as crassula ovata. These succulents are particularly slow-growing but do so without much fuss or care, which can also be attributed to Cancers.

While jade plants shouldn’t be overwatered or left in a spot with too much direct sun, they are relatively easy to keep alive for years. Because that’s where Cancers and jade plants come together: they are both slowly growing and optimizing themselves with a tenacity that isn’t often seen in other plants or signs! Jade plants are also often passed down generationally, and family is something that most Cancers feel connected to.

Leo (July 23-August 22): Monstera

Large, in charge, and with plenty of variations to choose from, monsteras are made for Leos. As the poster summer child with a magnanimous personality, Leos can benefit from monsteras and their delightful appearance. Known as the split-leaf philodendron, monsteras look good in any home and are among the most popular houseplants ever, much like a Leo in any friend group.

While you can find rare, variegated monsteras, even the most basic of these plants will show off in an interior design setting. While Leos are known for their star-studded lives, they are also incredibly loyal and reliable, making this a great choice for their astrological houseplant. Monsteras are much the same, capable of growing up to ten feet tall with regular water and fertilizer!

Virgo (August 23-September 22): Fern

While ferns aren’t exactly the easiest of houseplants to care for, caring for things is something that the average Virgo understands quite well. There are a number of fern varieties to consider as houseplants, but the maidenhair fern truly speaks to the delicate and gorgeous qualities associated with Virgos, or the maidens of the zodiac.

Ferns don’t like being moved, struggle with temperature changes, and will often die for no discernable reason whatsoever. Except a Virgo will know what a fern needs and how to keep it alive; their dedication to routine is unmatched by any in the zodiac. Perfectionistic and compassionate, Virgos can truly tap into their earth sign roots with a fern in the house.

Libra (September 23-October 22): Majesty Palm

Choosing a houseplant full of pep and aesthetic vigor is something every Libra will search for, but a practical succulent isn’t going to be enough for them. Propelled by the energies of Venus, Libras thrive in harmony and beautiful environments, making the majesty palm a natural choice for their astrological houseplant.

While finding balance and taking care of a majesty palm can be difficult at first, Libras will likely have no trouble keeping this plant happy. Their sense of fairness will complement the necessary care for this palm tree, and the airy fronds bring a signature lightness and aesthetic quality to any interior design!

Scorpio (October 23-November 21): Dragon Tree

Slow to grow, dragon trees are worth the wait.

Anyone who’s ever known a Scorpio intimately likely knows that it took a long time to reach such a point. The same can be true of a dragon tree, also known as dracaena draco. While dragon trees can reach anywhere from 10-50 feet tall, these houseplants only grow a couple of inches per year. A decade-old dragon tree plant may only be 5 feet tall; this is what it can be like to know a Scorpio too.

Just like dragon trees, Scorpios are notoriously tough, strong, and otherworldly. While this houseplant may take some time before it is large, impressive, and beautiful, it’s well worth the wait. Much like getting to know the guarded and protective Scorpio, dragon trees are amazing astrological houseplants to keep for the long haul.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21): Snake Plant

Like a quiver full of arrows, snake plants are perfect when paired with the archer of the zodiac. It isn’t a secret that Sagittarius signs enjoy the freedom and all of the perks that come with an active life–but this often doesn’t leave room or time to care for houseplants. Enter the snake plant, a great houseplant for the busy Sagittarius.

Thriving in warm weather, much like the fiery Sagittarius, snake plants are basically indestructible but also capable of purifying the air in your home. Sagittarius suns will enjoy snake plants for their reliability, practical uses, and unique, upright appearance. This is a plant that won’t die if you forget about it, Sagittarians!

Capricorn (December 22-January 19): Rubber Tree

Most rubber trees don’t need much care to produce glossy leaves.

Classified as ficus elastica, rubber trees are the perfect accompaniment to any Capricorn home. While Capricorns are also widely considered to be the workhorse of the zodiac, most Capricorns are too busy working to even contemplate taking care of a houseplant. That’s why the rubber tree is a fantastic choice.

So long as they are kept out of harsh afternoon sun and given plenty of water weekly, rubber trees are constantly growing houseplants that thrive easily. They produce glossy, iconic leaves throughout the year, giving any home the appearance of greenery and growth without much effort. This is ideal for the average Capricorn: give yourselves a break and opt for a houseplant that doesn’t require your trademark level of care and attention to detail!

Aquarius (January 20-February 18): Pothos

With plenty of varieties and appearances, an Aquarius can find a pothos houseplant that’s as unique as they are. In fact, pothos are among the most popular and common houseplants around, given their ease of propagation and care. Vining and trailing, pothos houseplants look attractive when hung and displayed in intricate ways– an Aquarius likely has an eye for this sort of thing.

Creative and obsessive in their daily lives, Aquarians can see the whole picture as well as the details. Pothos plants are great for this because they are constantly growing, capable of adding a foot of growth in a single month. This gives an Aquarius plenty to work with and care for. You can find pothos with variegated leaves, impressive vines, and whatever else a genius Aquarius might be looking for!

Pisces (February 19-March 20): Goldfish Plant

With proper care, goldfish plants produce plenty of orange blooms.

While Pisces is a water sign of great wisdom and empathy, keeping a goldfish plant should make any Pisces feel less alone. Classified as nematanthus gregarious, goldfish plants have delicate leaves and unique blooms that are typically orange, resembling the eponymous fish that it is named for!

Pisces are often neglected because of their giving and compassionate natures; it can be difficult for them to ask for what they need. Much can also be said of the goldfish plant. However, with the proper care and attention, the average goldfish plant will flourish with blooms indoors, as will the average Pisces!
