If you love the popular film and TV franchise, you’ll also love these out-of-this-world dog names. From basics like Luke and Leia to unique names like Boba Fetch, we’re covering the 81 best Star Wars dog names.

While there are hundreds of dog names that have to do with Star Wars, only a few of them make the top charts every year. Consider one of these names if you want a popular choice that will surely help your pet rule the galaxy!

  1. Rey: The hero of the new trilogy and a force prodigy. 
  2. Kylo Ren: The son of Han Solo and Leia who becomes a rather intense enemy in The Force Awakens.
  3. Obi: Obi-Wan is a major part of the Star Wars films. We first see him as Anakin’s mentor, watch him guide Luke Skywalker to his destiny, and then see him sacrifice himself during a battle with Darth Vader.
  4. Chewy (Chewie, Chewbacca): This name comes from the furry and loveable giant Wookie who is Han Solo’s co-pilot and partner. It’s the best name for particularly large, fluffy pups!
  5. Ewok: A cute and fluffy little creature that looks like a teddy bear and lives on Endor. Perfect for smaller, compact pups!
  6. Princess: Short for Princess Leia, this is a perfect name for your pampered pup.
  7. Yoda: It surely wouldn’t be right to have the most popular Star Wars names without Yoda! Whether it’s ‘Baby Yoda’ or just ‘Yoda’, this is a perfect name for your loveable pet!
  8. Darth Vader: Use the full name, or just ‘Darth’ or ‘Vader’ for a unique name for your naughty pup.

Star Wars Dog Names for Female Dogs

Here are a few female Star Wars names that would be great for your pet. 

  1. Leia: An alternative to Princess, Leia is the name of Anakin’s only daughter. 
  2. Padme: Leia’s mother and Anakin’s wife, Padme is a good name for a courageous and loving dog. Padme is also the queen of Naboo. 
  3. Amidala: ‘Queen Amidala’ is a front for the actual queen (Padme), and is great for a protective pup.
  4. Ahsoka: Trained by Anakin before he became Darth Vader, Ahsoka is perfect for bold and daring doggos. 
  5. Beru: The aunt who served as Luke Skywalker’s parent, who farmed moisture on Tattooine. 
  6. Jyn (Jyn Erso): This character helped steal the Death Star plans in Rogue One.
  7. Qi’ra: She grew up with Han Solo and eventually betrayed him. 
  8. Cara (Cara Dune): This popular mercenary from the Mandalorian is a super cute name for a female pet. 
  9. Sabine (Wren): Sabine or Wren is a cute name for your rebel pup.
  10. Corey: A pickpocket from the original trilogy with a deep past.
  11. Fortuna: The assistant to Jabba the Hutt.
  12. Jawa: The Jawa are a species that are pretty gender-neutral, but I think it’d make a cute girl name!
  13. Organa: If your pup is more of a queen, you could name her Organa.
  14. Sky: Short for Skywalker, whether you name her after Leia, Anakin, or Luke, the force will always be with her!
  15. Dorme: The handmaiden who served Padme Amidala while she was queen.

  17. Aurra: Aurra Sing is a bounty hunter who is also an expert sniper. 
  18. Meena: A female Mon Calamari who was senator of the Galactic Republic.

Star Wars Dog Names for Male Dogs

The Star Wars films have many male characters on both sides! Likewise, whether your pup is a fighter or peacemaker, there are plenty of galaxy-themed names for your pet.

  1. Falcon: Named after the Millennium Falcon, Falcon is a cute name for a flighty pup.
  2. Jedi: If your pup is on the sensitive side, Jedi might be the perfect name for him!
  3. Saber: Short for lightsaber, Saber is a cute nickname that will make you think of the force!
  4. Wookie: Wookies are adorable intelligent creatures from Kashyyyk. 
  5. Mando: Short for Mandalorian, Mando is a fun and different dog name.
  6. Darth Maul: If you have a tough pup, Darth Maul is the perfect name to say he means business!
  7. Ackbar: Most known for the line ‘It’s a trap!’, Admiral Ackbar is surprisingly beloved by Star Wars fans. 
  8. Boba: The most infamous bounty hunter in the galaxy would undoubtedly get a kick out of saying ‘Boba, Fetch!’. 
  9. Del: A stormtrooper and TIE fighter pilot. 
  10. Greedo: A bounty hunter who had a shooting match with Han Solo.
  11. Kenobi: An alternative to Obi, the last name of the legendary pilot.
  12. Jango: If you’ve got a talented pup, name him after one of the best bounty hunters.
  13. Dooku: Dooku, or Count Dooku if you’d like to use two names, was a Jedi trained by Yoda who fell in love with the dark side and then went on to become Sith Lord Darth Tyranus.
  14. Tyranus: Also a name for Count Dooku, Tyranus is a great name for a strong-willed and wild pet. 
  15. Jar Jar: While most Star Wars fans dislike Jar Jar Binks, it’s at least a fun name for a goofy dog!
  16. Luke: Named after the main protagonist, your pup will be the hero of every story.
  17. Moff: The officer who was in charge of designing and building the Death Star.
  18. Owen: Luke Skywalker’s uncle who raised him as his father.
  19. Wicket: If you don’t like ‘Ewok’, you could name your dog Wicket after one particular Ewok who battled against the Empire.
  20. Anakin: If you’d like to see his good side, name your dog Anakin.
  21. Mace: This Jedi leader is generally known for repping a purple lightsaber.
  22. Qui-Gon: Obi-Wan’s teacher who insisted that Anakin was indeed the chosen one.

Droid Names and Numerical Dog Names

Many of the droids have names that are a bit different, but your pup might be a bit different too! Here are some of the best droid-based names.

  1. AT-AT: The name for the giant machines that are seen during the battle of Hoth. 
  2. R2: R2 or R2D2 is the adorable and friendly robot that was originally owned by the Skywalkers.
  3. BB8: A cute, ball-shaped droid from the newer trilogy.
  4. C-3PO: The helpful and friendly gold-colored droid that was built by Anakin.
  5. T-14: The droid that appeared at the beginning of The Phantom Menace.

Location Dog Names

While you probably wouldn’t call your dog ‘earth’, we think Naboo would make a pretty cute name for your pet!

  1. Tattoo: Short for Tattooine, this is a cute name for a rugged pup.
  2. Raydonia: A planet on the outer rim.
  3. D’Qar: General Leia’s base of resistance was located on D’Qar.
  4. Hoth: A snowy planet most noted for the battle at the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back.
  5. Yavin: An orange planet with many orbiting moons that also served as various bases.
  6. Cantina: It’s hard to think of ‘Cantina’ without the catchy Cantina song playing in your mind!
  7. Tusken: This is the name for a tribe of people, also called ‘the sand people’. 
  8. Naboo: A planet inhabited by peaceful humans on the Outer Rim, and also the home of Padmé Amidala.
  9. Endor: A forested planet that was home to a famous battle.
