Moorestown, NJ, is a quaint township with a population of just over 23,000 people. It’s known for its lovely historic district and old-world charm.

Yet, hiding in this seemingly quiet town is a sprawling mansion over 46,000 square feet and nestled on 50 acres of land. In this article, we’ll cover some fascinating facts about Villa Collina.

The Largest House in New Jersey: Villa Collina

Villa Collina is the largest residence in New Jersey. There are larger mansions in New Jersey, but no longer private residences.

Villa Collina—an Italian translation of “Hill House”—is owned by Vernon Hill, the founder of Metro Bank. Builders completed this gargantuan home in 2002. The Italian moniker plays on Hill’s last name and is an homage to the home’s Italian Renaissance architecture.

Largest House in New Jersey: Honorable Mentions

Blairsden

Blairsden is a 62,000-square-foot mansion in Pepack-Gladstone. The home belonged to American investment banker Clinton Ledyard Blair. Built in 1903, the family sold the estate after Blair’s death in 1949. It sold again in 2002 and again in 2022. A real estate currently owns the property, with future plans unknown.
