Working dogs take their jobs very seriously! In the short clip below, we get to see a stellar work ethic from a beautiful Border Collie. At first, she’s just warming up but then dives in head first into a flock of sheep. The goal? Get them all herded back into the pen, as fast as possible! No time is wasted, and every sheep is put in line in the blink of an eye. It’d be shocking if she didn’t set a new record while doing so! Make sure to scroll on and see the action for yourself!

Are Border Collies the Smartest Dog?

It’s very likely! However, many dog lovers may contest this kind of claim in support of their favorite breed. Also, it’s important to note that measuring intelligence is a tricky thing to accomplish. But, when the stats are stacked up, the Border Collie surpasses many other dogs in their quickness to learn and eagerness to please. As work-oriented animals, Border Collies place the utmost priority on succeeding at the goals they’ve been given. They also make it look so easy!

That said, Border Collies could very well be considered one of the smartest dog breeds in existence. This is largely based on the speed and accuracy at which they adapt to their work. In other words, they’ve been shown to learn new things up to five times faster than other breeds! But, to be fair to all other canines, please remember that certain dogs will be suited for specific responsibilities. What one dog is really good at simply won’t compare to another. It’s all about perspective!

What Jobs Can Border Collies Do?

The better question to ask here is: what jobs can’t a Border Collie do? Seriously, these pups are not messing around, and adapt very rapidly to tasks they’re given. Usually, farm work is their area of expertise, and they simply love herding animals together. It’s no laughing matter, either, as they are truly dedicated to the activity when it’s available. Simply put, they love to work, and it’s both their form of exercise and fun!

Make no mistake – even when these energetic furballs aren’t corralling sheep and the like, they’re ready to report for duty. Border Collies make for amazing service animals, due to their sheer loyalty and desire to succeed. They also enjoy complex tasks like guarding the family, cleaning up the house, and of course, providing intense cuddles. As possibly the breed with the sharpest wit, there are very few things they won’t try and excel at!
