Pixie-Bob cats are absolutely adorable, and after a few years of popularity 2024 marks another year for owners, new and old alike! Though every cat is cute and special in its own way, Pixie-Bobs are an especially cute breed of cats! With an incredibly unique, wild-like striped coat these tiny tigers likely have bobcat DNA! It’s not scientifically proven, but the wildcat features are impossible to deny! Luckily, the ferocity of a bobcat hasn’t passed down to these adorable miniature versions, making them perfect pets! In this all-encompassing article, we’ll break down the prices of Pixie-Bob kittens, their vet visits, food, and everything else to make you an A+ owner!

FAQ Before Owning a Pixie Bob!

There are a few simple questions that potential Pixie-Bob owners will want answered right off the bat, just to know the basics. Let’s go over some of the major characteristics about these cute and cuddly companions!

Size: Pixie-Bobs are medium/average sized house cats, but their weights vary widely between genders! Female Pixie-Bobs will generally weight in somewhere between 10 and 15 pounds when healthy. The males are quite a bit bigger, being able to reach weights of 25 pounds! Lifting a big boy like that off of your lap would be a work-out in itself! These majorly cute furry friends usually measure about 9-13 inches in height when on all fours, still fully capable of sneaking under furniture!

Lifespan: Living on an average of 11-15 years, Pixie-Bobs are a long term addition to a family! When getting a pet such as a Pixie-Bob, its illegal and unethical to abandon a pet! So understanding the long-term nature of the commitment a Pixie-Bob demands is necessary!

Colors: Pixie-Bobs generally appear like tiny, gray-tan tigers! Their beautiful bobcat-like coats are often described as tawny, appearing light-gray though occasionally with a shade of red!

Temperament and Ideal Home Life

For those with small children or large families, a Pixie-Bob is an ideal choice of cat! Suitable to living with families and devoid of any quick-temper towards small children, new parents shouldn’t fear these cuddly companions! When acclimated to children at a young age, adult Pixie-Bobs are even more likely to get along and have patience with children. Extremely loyal and social, Pixie-Bobs are almost dog-like in their desire to be included in their owners’ life. Be prepared to shower your kitty in affection as soon as you walk through the door, and a talkative Pixie-Bob is no rarity!

Coexistence With Other Pets: Given their laidback and calm nature, Pixie-Bobs have also been observed getting along with and coexisting with dogs: a cat’s classic rival! Making a playmate out of their classic rivals is common among Pixie-Bobs, even going as far as cuddling and becoming bonded! Other cats are also easy to befriend for a Pixie-Bob. Not even new introductions to the household are an issue for Pixie-Bobs like for other pets. Though its always important to closely watch over the introduction of two new pets!

Fun Facts: As mentioned earlier, though it isn’t confirmed as fact, it’s believed that Pixie-Bob’s are descended from Bobcats! Though their disposition certainly doesn’t show it! Pixie-Bobs are all born with stubby, bobcat-esque tails! This isn’t due to any hidden bobcat DNA though, its rather a result of selective breeding!

Prices and Costs

With their extraordinary personalities and beautiful appearance, its no wonder that Pixie-Bob cats are in high demand! With this high demand of course comes a relatively steep price tag. However, after the initial purchase their lack of common health issues and aversion to danger and violence keep vet costs low! Costs for vet visits vary wildly, depending on the reason for the visit and any ailments discovered during a visit. For a generic check-up, owners can expect to spend $40-150, as is the usual rate across most breeds of cats.

Pixie-Bob cat prices vary significantly based on factors like lineage, color, and gender, causing potential sticker shock for buyers. Show-quality kittens can be steep, ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 USD, while regular cats are more affordable around $1,500 USD. For those seeking specific traits, male and female straight-footed Pixie-Bobs start at $1,850.00 and up. A bit higher up in price, poly kittens are priced from $2,150.00 upwards.

As with any cat, Pixie-Bob cats take good care of themselves and do their best to keep clean. Still, in order to keep their coat in a pristine state a grooming visit every 8-12 weeks is suggested. Professional cat grooming costs depend on factors such as services selected and the cat’s coat length. With the shorter coats of Pixie-Bobs, the costs for grooming visits will verge on the lower side of the scale! Most Pixie-Bob owners spend between $30 and $50 per grooming session.

Grooming Needs and Suggestions!

For Pixie-Bob owners, a grooming visit could be as simple as a nail-clipping, due to their short coats!

Some groomers provide make-your-own-package options, allowing owners to tailor services to their cat’s specific needs. For Pixie-Bob owners, this could look like a nail-clipping without needing to have another full grooming service, due to that short coat! Nail clipping services are typically cost-effective, ranging from $10 to $15, as standard with most cats.

The grooming industry offers various models, including brick-and-mortar storefronts, mobile salons, and in-home services. Mobile groomers tend to be pricier than storefronts, while in-home services are usually the most expensive. Given the calmer and less anxious nature of Pixie-Bobs, in-home visits are very rarely (if ever) required!
