One of the best hobbies we can do is activities that have to do with being outside. Being able to get our creativity out while also doing something beneficial for our health is the best thing possible. And going mountain biking is on the top of the list for sure.

As mountain bicyclists, there are a variety of things we might be concerned with. We might be worried about the weather, terrain, or other bikers we might come across. But large animals crossing our paths? Probably not on our list, but they should be! Nature is a wild animal’s natural territory. We are guests in that territory. Let’s see what happened to this mountain bicyclist below.

Mountain Biking

The next YouTube video posted above takes us on a wild mountain bike ride that meets an unlikely visitor. This video was filmed and shared by the Newschool MTB YouTube page. Our mystery mountain biker is Josh, and he shares his passion for what he does below.

“On this channel, you can expect content on all aspects of mountain biking including but not limited to, race and riding vlogs, tips and tricks, tutorials, and more. I also love skiing, so you can expect skiing videos during the winter.”

At the start of this video, we see that the young mountain biker, Josh, is riding through a pathway. The surroundings are beautiful, and we can see that Josh is experienced with riding a bike out on a mountain.

Suddenly, at five seconds, we see a gigantic moose cross paths with this young mountain biker! We hear the sounds of Josh yelling out. After all, he was in the zone and was not expecting a large moose to cross by.

We can all learn best from Josh that he did not try to engage this moose or make it angry in any way. As we said at the beginning, nature is their habitat, and it’s best to let them have their space.

Where Are Moose Found?

Moose (Alces alces) of the family Cervidae can be found in Eurasia, Europe, and North America. It is estimated that they have a population of 1.5 million. Their conservation status is labeled as the least concern.

In the United States, Alaska has the most moose. According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, it is estimated that there are 175,000 moose in Alaska alone. They go further to describe that hunters in Alaska harvest over 7,000 moose annually.
