As a Marvel fan, you have a wide variety of names to choose from when selecting one for your cat. But to make it even easier, we compiled a list of the best Marvel-inspired cat names below. We broke them down into each of the phases, offering a summary of each. Then, we alphabetized the perfect cat names cherry-picked from each phase. We didn’t forget to include X-Men characters and we put a list together of names from movies that haven’t even been released yet! All you need to do is take your pick and enjoy your newly named floof!

The choice is yours but will your cat know their name? A-Z-Animals spoke with Dr. Colleen Wallace, a cat-only vet at Cozy Cat Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh, NC. She shared, “Cats are very intelligent, so I’m sure they know when you are referring to them, either by the tone of voice or the familiarity of the words. They will recognize their name when it is used often enough, but, being cats, respond only when they’re in the mood. That said, most cats I know have a formal name that is used sometimes, but also one or maybe several nicknames that may be used more often. The more names you use to refer to your cat when talking to them, the less likely they are to respond visibly to any one of them. I will say that cats know what name you use for them as much as you know the specific meow that your cat uses when they refer to you.” The name you choose helps you build a bond with your kitty! So, let’s get into it!

The Infinity Saga includes Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), and Marvel’s The First Avengers (2012). These first six films introduced key characters and set the stage for the future phases, successfully foreshadowing what was to come with the assembly of Avengers.

Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America ignited love and appreciation from many, creating a vast audience to include those who were not privy to the original comic books. This initial phase created a wide range of faithful fans who would return to watch each new creation with wide-eyed curiosity and wonder. Though each movie seems to stand alone, they remain interconnected, providing viewers with a solid foundation from which all other phases are born.

From a well-armored billionaire who gets recruited into the Avenger Initiative to a relatively reserved doctor whose rage powers him into a monster, phase one encompassed a range of characters, though some were more popular than others. When naming your cat from one of the characters in phase one, you have several characters to select from. Some are stealthy with their heroics while others surprise you with their abilities, much like each cat has its unique personality. Your job is to pick the name that best matches the energy of your little furball! Here are some fan favorites:

This phase introduced another host of characters as they’re thrown into action-packed scenes that reveal more to viewers. Defeat appears at seemingly every angle, but the main characters find a way to restore order, not just in their personal lives, but throughout the cosmos as is the case with Thor. Captain America gets a new ally and Peter Quill encounters a powerful villain. Whether your kitty is more the superhero or the menace, there’s an apt name from this phase in the list below.

Phase three is heftier, incorporating more movies than the first two phases. They include Captain America: Civil War (2016), Doctor Strange (2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), Captain Marvel (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). This phase starts with quite the split in opinion as the Avengers experience conflict in how to run the team. A neurosurgeon is left without a choice but to heal, and those who used to be enemies shift sides, instead becoming allies. Peter Parker encounters a new villain and Thor meets Hulk. You meet Black Panther during this phase as well and witness the Avengers’ most lethal showdown. Just like your cat when the zoomies hit, there is so much happening in this phase that it’s hard to keep up!

Navigating the timeline of X-Men movies is tricky, but it’s easy to tell each mutant apart. They each have distinct powers and personalities that are even further highlighted with each villain they face. When you watch each movie, you can watch them in the order of the date of release (like we listed above) or you can watch the films chronologically. Either way, you embark on a ride, exploring the depths of each of the mutants.
