However, their name is still an essential tool in communication, whether you’re calling them to you or telling them to get off the counter. As a result, you’ll want to make sure you pick the right name for your cat.

Names that are shorter are often best. You’ll likely want to keep your cat’s name to one or two syllables, preferably three at most. If you would like to choose a longer name for your cat, consider teaching them a nickname. You’ll also want to make sure that no other pets or humans in the house share a similar name. This can help prevent confusion.
