American Woodcock Dance
The next YouTube video posted at the bottom of this blog post shows an American woodcock mom with her little chick. This video was filmed and shared by the Animals and Synthesizers YouTube page. This channel is dedicated to offering “synthetic sounds for organic beings.”
We see a variety of videos with animals and insects that are moving or dancing to music. Some of the music is very beautiful, and others just make you laugh the whole time. We see a variety of videos of animals such as dolphins, garden eels, sharks, hairy frogfish, starfish, elephants, rollie pollies, and butterflies, to name a few.
American Woodcock Mother and Chicks
At the start of this video, we see an American woodcock mother with her two chicks on the ground. And yes, we guarantee you will expel a chuckle when you hit play. This mother is moving in a way that looks like she is dancing. Her two chicks are following closely behind. And we see them trying to learn her dance moves with every step that she takes.
American Woodcock (Scolopax minor) Facts
The American woodcock (Scolopax minor) is a funny-looking bird with a long bill. This bill can reach from 2.5-2.8 inches in length. This bird can weigh anywhere from 8-12 ounces, and their bodies are 10-12 inches long.
And if you guessed it, this bird is listed among some of the top nine birds that are known to be the funniest in the world. “It bobs his head and body simultaneously while walking, making it seem like it’s moving to a beat. Because of this, it is nicknamed the funky American woodcock.”
The other birds that are known to be funny are the following: noisy friarbird (Philemon corniculatus), hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin), red-rumped bush tyrant (Cnemarchus erythropygius), horned screamer (Anhima cornuta), gray go-away bird (Crinifer concolor), spangled drongo (Dicrurus bracteatus), fluffy-backed tit babbler (Macronus ptilosus), and satanic goatsucker (Eurostopodus diabolicus).
The American woodcock bird is a carnivore. They are known to eat mainly earthworms. They can also eat things such as snails, millipedes, spiders, snipe flies, and beetles, to name a few.
