If you’re like us, you love a good cat video. You’re in for a treat with the clips below showcasing adorable felines and their crazy antics. The cat owners out there may recognize some of these moves from watching their own cats play. But if you haven’t seen a cat jump from a wall-mounted perch, get ready for a treat!
The compilation video showcases three pairs of “wrestlers.” The first match begins when one cat tries to sneak up on the other in a hallway. The unsuspecting kitty does a backflip, though, taking down the would-be champion. The two both get back to their feet and face off.
The second clip shows a fluffy orange cat relaxing on a bed. Cats like to lounge and this fella clearly knows how to do it right. The challenger, a black cat, jumps onto a wall-mounted cat bed high above the bed. Not one to be caught off-guard, the orange cat tracks his movements. The black cat jumps onto his foe, all four legs outstretched. He lands just above his head and both cats jump off the bed.
The third and most epic match is shot in slow motion. Two cats charge right at each other. The black and white cat gets down low while the small all-black cat jumps into the air. His front two paws are outstretched and he lands right at the larger cat’s shoulder. It seems like he has the advantage but the larger cat body slams him into the ground.
What makes this clip so entertaining is the background noise of wrestling announcers and crowds paired with the hilarious footage. Cats may have their own reasons for wrestling each other but we’re glad that we were able to enjoy the videos.
Why Do Cats Play?
Wrestling and play attacks are normal cat behavior, especially for younger kittens and cats. Playing together this way helps them develop and practice their natural hunting instincts. Even though they are domesticated housecats, those instincts are still strong. In the wild, they would have to take down smaller animals for food. Sneaking up on them is one way that cats get an edge. This is why so many play wrestling matches begin with one cat sneaking up on another.
Play also helps them bond. If you’ve been a cat owner, you’ve likely seen your cat bat around a toy or play with your feet and ankles. Many popular cat toys are shaped like mice or other small animals. There are also toys that move to further engage your pet. Cats love this interaction and many prefer these types of toys. This is the same behavior that you see when they wrestle with each other.
Playing around is a great way to have fun with your pet. Just don’t try to body-slam your cat. Let them play wrestle with other kitties their own size. Getting a toy can let you play with your cat as well without worrying about getting your ankles nipped.
