Picking on someone your own size takes on a whole new meaning with this viral video seen above. Typically, that phrase references someone who is larger picking on someone small. However, in this case, it is the small kitten who is the bully. Don’t miss the most adorable interaction above.
Kitten Fight Goes Viral
The short video at the top has gone viral after a kitten fighting a deer was filmed. The Viral Hog YouTube channel couldn’t resist reposting this video of “Animals Doing Unusual Things.” This channel shares a wide range of videos. Footage of whales, tornadoes, people doing extraordinary things for each other, and humans interacting with wildlife.
Kitten Picks On An Animal 20 Times Its Size
At the start of this video, we are in Elkford, British Columbia, Canada. The owner of this house was able to capture the most adorable interaction on video. It’s between her cat Shadow and a mule deer buck, according to the YouTube description.
A big buck is foraging in the front yard of this home. And Shadow, the kitten, was able to sneak up on this big animal. He was likely wondering what in the world it was doing in this front yard where he plays. This brave kitten rushes right up to the deer with no fear at all. He reaches out with his two front paws and grabs ahold of his leg.
Startled, the deer shakes off whatever intruder has come at him. If you’ve ever been scratched by a cat you’d know immediately how this deer probably felt. Even despite this kitten being about 20 times smaller than he was. He quickly sniffs the animal out to make sure it isn’t a predator and then kicks it on its way.
- Pro-tip – If you have a cat. Make sure to trim their nails every two or three weeks. “Nail-trimming is also a fast and effective alternative to declawing. Which involves surgical amputation and can cause behavioral and health issues.”
How Many Mule Deer Live in Canada?
The mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) is one of about 44 species of deer worldwide. There are estimates of up to 170,000 left in the mule deer population that resides solely in Canada. The mule deer are most popularly named for their long ears. Which are about three-fourths the length of their head, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
Mule deer can be anywhere from three to 3.5 feet to the shoulder and up to seven feet in length. They can also weigh up to 400 pounds.
A full-size cat can weigh anywhere from 8-12 pounds. So this mule deer probably seemed massive to this kitten. However, as we can see from the video above, that did not stop this brave little fellow!
