Russia has since captured large portions of Ukraine, and the war continues along the nation’s eastern front. Tens of thousands of civilians and soldiers have died because of the war, and many others have been injured.

The population of Ukraine was about 43.8 million people in 2021. However, the war has killed and displaced a large number of people from this area. Some estimates claim that as many as 7 million people have fled Ukraine into other parts of the European Union. Between refugees, deaths from war, and population replacement disruptions, the population of the nation could greatly decline in the future.
