In Ancient Rome, Mercury was the messenger god. He traveled back and forth between realms delivering messages to all types of creatures—divine, mortal, and everyone in between. He often had to use his intellect, quick thinking, and sometimes a bit of trickery to deliver his messages properly. So, it makes sense that in astrology, Mercury is the planet of communication and intellect.

Natal Mercury Conjunction Aspects in Astrology

In astrology, a conjunction occurs when two planets are very close to each other. Conjunctions are one of the five major aspects. The aspects occur when two planets form an angle to each other on the 360° zodiac chart used in Western Astrology.

An orb of influence is an acceptable difference in the exactness of an aspect. They differ depending on who you ask. According to some astrologers, an orb of 10° is acceptable for all aspects. According to others, it depends on which planet is involved. To some astrologers, an aspect involving Mercury would only have an acceptable orb of 3°.

Conjunctions are an aspect in which the two bodies support each other. The energy flows freely between them and creates great possibilities. In general, conjunctions are thought of as a good thing, but too much of a good thing can have a challenging side.

They might make great public speakers, performers, or teachers. However, they may not be as good of a listener as they are a talker. They may need reminders to be receptive to others.
