The world is always in a state of change. The future is coming upon us. Major cities in the United States are embracing all they can to ensure the best is yet to come. Given all of the issues surrounding the environment, it’s natural for cities to try to make sure they’re doing what they can to help. There are also a lot of cities who have the bulk of their job market centered around technology. These cities are becoming more futuristic than anyone else in the U.S.

Denver has been one of the fastest growing cities in terms of population over the last 15 years. There are plenty of reasons for this, but the way Denver has handled such quick growth is why it makes this list. Millennials and Gen-Z have proven they want to live in the city with more things to do, not the suburbs. Denver has quickly built dozens of new apartment buildings and organized the city in a new way to help handle all of the new citizens.

Denver is a walkable city with tons of parks and outdoor areas, something that was missed during the pandemic. There are also tons of new transportation methods to get to and from places like Boulder, Golden, and the airport. Denver has laid out the blueprint of how to handle a rapidly growing population.

The affinity Elon Musk has for Austin is truly remarkable. This city is another one that has seen an extreme rise in population over the last 10 years. Austin has a great bike and scooter share option if you’re downtown.

Those modes of transportation are given energy from a solar pannel. Along with different ways to reduce carbon into the environment, Austin has tons of community help. These include a mobile hospital and food pantry. Austin is doing everything it can to be the city of the future.

There are also apps that can sense whether parking spots are available or not, cutting down on time driving around and stress. The citizens of San Jose are also being given solutions to WiFi and help finding housing that’s affordable. San Jose is one of the most expensive places to live in the United States, so this is important for the future of keeping people living there.

Another part of Silicon Valley committed to the future is San Francisco. The city of San Francisco has a GDP of $236.4 billion. This is one of the highest in the world for a singular city. The newest buildings in downtown San Francisco are being built with the environment in mind. They all use renewable energy and the city is focused on a new technology in which cars can communicate with each other to avoid traffic. While it might cost a pretty penny to live in here, the futuristic part of San Francisco sets it apart form other cities in the U.S.

The trend of seeing cities with rapid growing populations on this list continues with Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte has been focused on building out and up for all of the new residents. They’ve also been trying to figure out ways to help people have a smooth transition. Recently, the city figured out how to help more people have access to internet. This is helpful for those who are remote or looking for a new job. Charlotte also is focused on being as resourceful of a city it can be. There are tons of technology jobs with banks, especially Bank of America who is headquartered there.

This list wouldn’t be complete without the most populated city in the United States. New York is constantly having to figure out new and improved ways to support the 10 million people who live there. This isn’t including the millions visiting from around the world. The amount of opportunity to work in a technology related field is endless in New York. The city is also home to numerous conventions and meetings for those around the world to attend related to anything with the future. Typically, New York is the home to any reveal for something that’s related to the future. New York City will remain one of the most important cities and one that’s prepared for the future for a long time.

Seattle, Washington

If you associate companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing with the future, then Seattle must make this list. Seattle is the corporate home to these companies, along with many more who are working on the future. Along with being the home to dozens of companies working toward the future, Seattle itself has many different programs geared toward helping keep the Earth healthy. Seattle has become as walkable and outdoors as you can, given how small the area for a population is. The city also prides itself on being forward thinking and open to all. Seattle is constantly working to create a better future for itself and the rest of the world.

Sin City has done a marvelous job of keeping up with the times and setting the stage for the future. Many of the newest hotels and casinos offer technology that isn’t seen anywhere else. Walking through Resorts World and soon to be opened Fontainebleau show you what’s truly possible when it comes to technology. The lights you see in Las Vegas are all powered through renewable energy from the Hoover Dam. Las Vegas is home to one of Elon Musk’s projects, the underground Tesla tunnel. There’s also face recognizing technology in casinos now to keep those who have been banned, out.

The city that houses the most important man in the United States, if not the world, is always above and beyond with futuristic ways. Washington D.C. will be ahead of almost every city on this list, and any list, given how important it is. While we don’t truly know the full scope of what they have right now, we do know the population keeps growing. The city has done a tremendous job of keeping up and being a welcoming place for all.
