When we think of animals that are bigger than we are, it’s not difficult to imagine many different types of animals. Perhaps we think of the largest land animal, the elephant, weighing up to 13,000 pounds and reaching 13 feet in height. Or maybe our minds go to the ferocious tiger that reaches up to 660 pounds and can reach over 10 feet long.

And the list can go on and on with the animals that are larger than we are as humans. However, adding fish to that list, we can reel in is probably not something we would think of. This woman is one in a million and had this incredible experience to share with us. Don’t miss the video below.

Massive Fish Caught

As the video above starts, this woman is out for a little late-night fishing. She is reeling in a fish, and it is a big one. Of course, every fisherman’s dream is to catch the biggest fish possible, but we don’t think this woman was prepared for how large this fish would be.

The fish is reeled up so high that it is seemingly taller than the boat! This fish is a massive bluefin tuna. Suddenly, at 10 seconds, she could reel it into the boat, and it slammed down on the deck. We see her raising her hands and shouting excitedly, and her fellow fishermen celebrate her catch.

After seeing this enormous catch, we want to know how large these bluefin tuna fish can get. Tuna fish has 15 different species, including the bluefin tuna. The Florida Museum states, “The bluefin tuna is one of the largest of the tunas.”

Well, the bluefin tuna has three different species: Atlantic (Thunnus thynnus), Pacific (Thunnus orientalis), and Southern (Thunnus maccoyii). The Atlantic bluefin tuna is known to be the largest of these species. This massive fish can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and reach anywhere from 6-10 feet in length. Not only do they have an impressive size, but they also are powerhorses that can speed through the water at 43 miles per hour.

However, despite the enormous size of this fish and his incredible speed, it was not enough to keep this fisherman from being able to get this catch of a lifetime!
