Just as children are known to get into everything, the same can be said of animals. Animals have their favorite foods; however, if they find something lying around, they will eat it if given the chance. Well, let’s say this huge python in the video above didn’t just find some cookies lying around. Don’t miss the action of what we find lodged deep in his mouth.

Python Sighting in Australia

The YouTube video at the top of this blog post takes us to Sydney, Australia. A team of veterinarians assessed a dangerous situation when a python that was choking came in. The Newsflare YouTube page reposted this clip, which has since gone viral with over one million views.

Huge Python Swallowed Object

As the video above starts, we see this python lying on a bed in this vet hospital. A team of nurses are around, attempting to get something out of his throat. This python is a jungle carpet python, and its name is Monty. He was privately owned by a family there in Sydney.

The nurse at the front has a good hold on this python’s head, so she can get the best angle of getting the flashlight to illuminate what is stuck. We see a nurse on the opposite end slowly massaging the serpent’s body to see if he can get whatever is stuck to come up.

At the end of this flashlight is a hook that they use to reach the stuck item. The nurse can pull it out just an inch or so. She then reaches in with her hand and pulls out a towel! That’s right, this jungle carpet python has swallowed a beach towel whole! Once they have completely gotten it loose, we hear the happy sounds of all the nurses that they finally were able to set this python free from harm.

The jungle carpet python is one of six subspecies of the carpet python. Unlike other larger pythons, this one is relatively small. They reach anywhere from 5-7 feet in length and weigh up to 30 pounds.

This python is a carnivore. The Department of Environment and Science of Queensland states, “Carpet pythons mostly feed after dark.” They will feed on animals such as birds, lizards, frogs, rats, mice, and rabbits. And well, apparently, they will try to eat beach towels too!
