Taurus is considered one of the most sensual of signs due to its ruler, Venus, the planet of aesthetics, pleasure, and love. It makes sense that Taurus is represented by equally sensual birthstones: diamond and emerald. These stones are renowned for their ability to attract prosperity and promote well-being.

Taurus Zodiac Sign Overview

April 20 – May 20

Taurus is one of the four earth signs representing consistency, level-headedness, and indulgence. Their zodiac symbol is the bull. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more loyal companion than a Taurus. While they present a thick skin to the world, and can usually brush off most things, friends and family can deeply wound them. Keep reading to learn about this earth sign’s birthstones and other stones that are good to work with during the Taurus season. While Taurus rules the majority of May, it also covers part of April. Those born in April have diamonds for their birthstone, while May birthdays have emeralds.

Meaning of April Birthstone for Taurus: Diamond

Diamonds are incredibly scratch-resistant and durable. No wonder they are traditionally used to symbolize marriage and commitment – perfect for a loyal Taurus! Diamonds provide clarity of thought and are associated with the Crown Chakra. Wearing them on your person is said to enhance the body-mind connection.

Properties of Diamonds

Diamonds are one of the two most common types of pure carbon – the other being graphite. (Yes, the graphite you find in pencils!) Diamonds are one of the strongest materials on earth and also have the highest thermal conductivity. Additionally, diamonds do not react with most corrosive substances. Maybe there’s truth to the old saying “diamonds are forever.”

For centuries, emeralds have represented wealth and prosperity. Their green hue harkens to the stability of earth signs. In ancient Mesoamerica, the Inca prized emeralds. They symbolize successful love, domestic bliss, and loyalty. Emeralds represent strong friendships and undying love. They are also associated with the Heart Chakra, which is perfect for a stubborn Taurus who doesn’t like to let their guard down. Taurus are one of the most loving signs of the zodiac but sometimes they have trouble opening up for fear of rejection. If you are a Taurus and struggle with openness, consider wearing an emerald to promote new and more meaningful relationships!

Properties of Emeralds

Emeralds are associated with the planet Venus, which is perfect because Venus happens to be the ruling planet for Taurus. Those born under the bull seek love that will last a lifetime – not flings. Wearing an emerald will help Taurus find the same love and loyalty they’re so ready to dole out. As touched on previously, emeralds are connected to the Heart Chakra.

If you’re a Taurus who is struggling to find love, consider wearing an emerald. It doesn’t have to be an expensive piece of fine jewelry; a raw, unpolished emerald can be found at most metaphysical shops for a reasonable price. The best place to wear it is around your neck so that it’s close to your heart.

Other Useful Gems For Taurus

Green Aventurine

Green aventurine is a lovely gem that is great for anyone born under an earth sign. This stone is used by New Age practitioners all over the globe for its healing properties. It’s also good for promoting compassion – something Taurus have in spades for others but sometimes not for themselves. Taurus struggles to confront friends and family who have hurt them, so carrying a piece of green aventurine into a difficult conversation might be a good idea.

If you’re looking for a crystal to add to your arsenal, you can’t go wrong with rose quartz. It’s one of the most versatile stones and easily acquired. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find a stone shop that doesn’t carry this beloved mineral. Rose quartz, like many of the stones we’ve discussed, is centered on healing and magnifying love.

Rose quartz is also associated with creativity so if you’re struggling to get a personal project off the ground, try keeping a piece of it near you on your desk.

Blue Kyanite

Associated with the Third Eye, this lovely calming stone enhances intuition and promotes good communication. If you’ve offended a Taurus, you’ll probably have to be the one to make amends, as they may be too crushed to talk about it. But if you’re a Taurus who wants to get better at talking things out, carry blue kyanite with you! This stone also helps align your energy. Usually, earth signs don’t need as much help with this as fire signs, but nobody’s perfect. If the Taurus in your life has been all over the place lately, this stone can help get them focused.
