Toledo, also known as The Glass City, is a port city in the Midwestern United States in Ohio. Its bustling entertainment district, the variety of active and popular industries, and its history are only a couple of things that make this city worth visiting.

However, if you plan to bring Fido on your trip, you’ll also be interested in Toledo’s dog parks. After all, you’ll need a pet-friendly open area where you can let your pup run wild and free for an hour or two before getting back on the road.

If you’re looking for a dog park in Toledo, you’re in the right place–here are some of the best you can find!

1. Glass City Dog Park

Glass City Dog Park
Address1171 Woodsdale Ave, Toledo, OH 43614
Hours6 AM – 9 PM
PriceMembership-based – $45 a year for two dogs

Glass City Dog Park is worth a visit only if you regularly travel through Toledo or plan to move here. This is because the dog park requires applying for a membership priced at $45 a year for up to two dogs.

The designated dog area is located in Woodsdale Park and has two shelters for pups. There are plenty of water fountains and toys (in case you forget to bring any). In terms of space, Glass City Dog Park has a surface area of around 7 acres of grassland for your pup to run around and socialize with other canine friends.

One of the main advantages for regulars is the usual K9 and Owner events hosted by the park’s administration. With some luck, your pup has the chance to join one as well.

Before applying for a membership, take note of the requirements listed on the park’s website.

2. Middlegrounds Metropark

Middlegrounds Metropark is located right under the Anthony Wayne Bridge, on the east side of the Maumee River. It is one of the best dog parks in Toledo, mainly due to its location. The park is equipped with high-quality turf when wet; the premises are closed to prevent turf damage.

The dog park is separated into two areas for small and large breeds. Even though it’s a free park, it’s being taken care of very well. Pups can enjoy a water fountain whenever they need it. On the other hand, owners can rely on free poop bags in times of need.

An access point to the Maumee River can be found right behind the park. Dogs can practice swimming or simply walk on the shore if they’re afraid of water.

Address1226 Woodsdale Ave, Toledo, OH 43614
Hours7 AM – 8:30 PM

Woodsdale Park is a straightforward option if you want to visit Glass City Dog Park but didn’t know about the membership. On top of that, another dog park, Toledo Unleashed, can be found here. However, be aware that it is in a very poor state, and your pup might not want to play in or explore the area.

This park is busy throughout the week, as many people bring their dogs to play and socialize with other canine friends. Even though it is an on-leash area, pups can still have fun, walk around, and so on.

Woodsdale Park features a 0.6-mile trail that goes through the entire park and can be walked in about 12 minutes. It makes for a great quick afternoon walk, right after you and your pup have had lunch.

4. Ottawa Park

Ottawa Park is one of the most popular parks in Toledo, seeing high activity levels every day of the week. It is a city park equipped with plenty of venues and various facilities and activities (mainly for humans).

It is not a designated area, so dogs must be kept on a leash. The park features a golf course and multiple tennis courts. You and your pup will most likely experience the surrounding natural areas, such as the small pond or the trails that web the park.

Ottawa Park is connected to Jermain Park and Beatty Park, so you can easily transfer to other parks if this one gets too busy. The park is an amazing experience for both owner and pup, as they can walk peacefully through it and explore it. With a bit of luck, you might come across a deer!
