Bicolor daffodils are two-tone beauties that bring captivating blooms to spring gardens. These showy flowers are easy to grow from bulbs and reward you with a parade of color. But there are so many plants to choose from that it might be challenging to decide which types of bicolor daffodils to grow! So we’ve compiled a list of 23 hardy and sublime bicolor daffodils that won’t disappoint.

Daffodil growers and enthusiasts have the esteemed Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to thank for the list of 13 daffodil divisions. These divisions designate which traits identify each type of daffodil, including details like the number of blooms per stem.

'Holland Sensation' Trumpet Daffodil (bicolor)

As a trumpet daffodil, ‘Holland Sensation’ grows one large bloom per stem. And this standard-size bicolor cultivar will be one of the first to appear in early to mid-spring.

Dainty but hardy in Zones 3-8, the ‘Topolino’ daffodil is a charming plant perfect for sunny window boxes and rock gardens. It’s also an award-winning daffodil that earned the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

‘Accent’ grows 1-2 feet high and shows off its 4-inch blooms in mid-spring. In addition, ‘Accent’ is a proud winner of the American Daffodil Society’s Wister Award.

This flower’s cups are definitely wider than they are long, with a very striking style.

‘Flower Record’ grows to the standard daffodil height of 12-26 inches and blooms in mid to late spring. It also adds a light and delightful scent to the garden.

'Fortissimo' Large-Cupped Daffodil

The ‘Solar Wind’ cultivar produces 4-inch blooms and grows to an average of 18 inches tall (standard size). In addition, these fluffy flowers release a sweet scent as they dazzle in mid-spring.

‘Golden Echo’ bicolor daffodils belong to the jonquilla division of plants, often called jonquils. Common characteristics of jonquils include a strong fragrance and multiple blooms per stem. The ‘Golden Echo’ daffodil provides both, plus cheerful color, in early to mid-spring.

'Kedron' Jonquil Daffodil

'Silver Chimes' Daffodils

The ‘Silver Chimes’ cultivar is a bicolor daffodil in the tazetta division. As a tazetta daffodil, this plant produces 3-20 flowers per stem! In addition, ‘Silver Chimes’ is a standard-size plant with pendant blooms that tip like little bells toward the ground.

If you’re new to the world of tazetta daffodils, note that this type of daffodil is often grown as an annual in many Zones. However, if you live in a warmer climate like Zones 6 and above, your tazetta daffodils will probably come back every year.

‘Sliver Chimes’ is also very fragrant and shows off its charming blooms in mid to late spring.

'Avalanche' Tazetta Daffodil

‘Avalanche’ is hardy in Zones 6-9 but is also grown as an annual in colder climates. This tazzeta daffodil is a standard size and blooms in mid-spring.

'Canaliculatus' Tazetta Daffodils

It has similar, slightly reflexed white petals and bowl-shaped yellow cups. However, ‘Canaliculatus’ plants produce about 4-8 flowers per stem compared to the 10-20 of larger tazetta daffodils.

‘Canaliculatus’ is a sweet and tiny plant that grows just 5-6 inches tall. It also has a subtle, sweet scent from flowers blooming mid-spring.

'Grand Soleil d'Or' Tazetta Daffodils

The ‘Grand Soleil d’Or’ bicolor daffodil is hardiest in the warm climate of Zones 8-11.

The ‘Grand Soleil d’Or’ bicolor daffodil will not survive the winter in many climates but is a hardy plant in Zones 8-11. In addition, this daffodil shines with its sunny blooms in early to mid-spring.

'Sea Green' Poeticus Daffodils

Poeticus daffodils like ‘Sea Green’ usually all have a similar style of white petals with yellow, green, and reddish-orange cups. So, technically, ‘Sea Green’ is a multi-colored daffodil. But it didn’t feel right to leave all poeticus daffodils off this list because they are mainly bicolor with hints of other hues. For example, the small cups of this plant are mainly yellow with a touch of green at the base and red-orange around the rim.

Whether you call ‘Sea Green’ bicolor or muti-colored, it’s a unique and attractive daffodil that earned the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. It’s also a standard-size, hardy plant in Zones 3-9 that blooms in late spring.

'Mondragon' Split-Cupped Collar Daffodil

Welcome to the world of split-cupped daffodils, where the ‘Mondradon’ is a standout bicolor variety. More specifically, ‘Mondragon’ is a split-cupped collar daffodil. This designation means the flower’s cup is split into segments opposite the petals. Additionally, this trait gives this and other split-cupped daffodils the look of fluttering butterfly wings. So that’s why split-cupped daffodils are also called butterfly daffodils.

‘Mondragon’ has pretty yellow petals below its orange split cup. And this standard-size daffodil produces fragrant blooms in mid to late spring for Hardiness Zones 4-9.

As a split-cupped papillon daffodil, the ‘Dolly Mollinger’ cultivar has split cups with segments placed alternately between the flower petals. And what makes this flower a bicolor daffodil are its lovely white petals with fluffy orange split cups.

‘Dolly Mollinger’ is also an heirloom daffodil from the 1950s and a standard-size plant. You can expect a show of fluttery color from this butterfly daffodil in mid-spring.
