All around the world, people have incredible careers that take them to adventurous lands to document the lives of animals in the wild. The man in the video above has dedicated himself to bringing us jaw-dropping footage of those animals that live in our waters. Don’t miss the most incredible action above with a never-before-seen shark breach!

Great White Shark Sighting

The following YouTube clip at the top of this blog post shares fantastic footage of a great white shark breaching the surface. This video comes to us from the Continental Shift YouTube page. This channel shares mixed content on its platform, including a few fantastic animal videos like the one at the top.

Great White Shark Breaching the Surface

At the start of this YouTube short just above, we hear the narrator reference a man named “Dickie.” Dickie Chivell is a marine life photographer that likes to film excellent interactions with animals like sharks and whales. He has traveled in the United States from Baja to New Zealand and California.

We see a boat out on the raging waters as the video begins. And Dickie is out there “holding on for dear life,” as the narrator puts it. He is waiting to capture excellent footage to share with his followers. They have placed a decoy on the surface and are just waiting for this great white shark to rear his head.

Suddenly, halfway into this clip, we see the tremendous great white breach the surface and grab the decoy. We paused the video once the shark was more than three-quarters of the way out of the water. And we must say that we are in complete awe of this shark’s size. Mind you, we aren’t just referencing how long he is. This is one thick shark.

How Big Do Great White Sharks Get?

The great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is named white shark for its appearance and white underbelly. And the name “great” is because of his size. And we must say that is an entirely appropriate name given this shark’s appearance.

A great white shark weighs anywhere from 2,400-5,000 pounds and reaches 18-26 feet. To match their enormous size, the great white shark has 300 serrated teeth in the shape of triangles—making them the perfect tools for tearing the flesh of their prey.

One YouTube viewer in the video at the top commented, “I’ll just stick to the pool.” And we think in the case of this video seen above, we’d have to agree with them!
