“Once in a lifetime,” this phrase holds and wields so much power. There are things we put on our bucket lists that we want to accomplish in our lifetime before it’s over. What’s on your bucket list? Perhaps it is to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, swim to the depths and see sea creatures never seen before, or take an African safari and see a lion face to face.  And when we get to do these things, we often say that it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Well, for this group of guys on this fishing trip, they got to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Check Out the Incredible Video Below!

The video above is a mystery to us as far as where it was filmed. We don’t have any background information on this, but it was too good of a video to pass up on not sharing!

At the start of the video, we see that there are about half a dozen friends out on this fishing boat. They are all out for a good day of fishing. Only they don’t catch exactly what they think they will!

If we pause the video for 5 seconds, we hear the sounds of these guys yelling out in excitement about something in the water. Can you see it? It’s hard to make out because we did not see it first. But there is a massive, great white shark in the water! It blends in so well that you almost don’t see it until it is right up against that boat!

The guys have a fishing line out with a fish that is undoubtedly interesting, this great white shark enough to come up close. Next, we pause the video at 19 seconds, and we are astonished by how large this great white shark is. It is now literally right up against this boat and has nudged it several times! We hear one of the fishermen yell out, “Dude, that was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!”

The shark goes to one of the flotation devices and chomps down on it! And continues to circle the boat! At the end of the video, once everyone is celebrating having seen this, we hear them say, “Once in a lifetime.”

Where Do Great White Sharks Live?

Great white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) of the genus Carcharodon are enormous sharks that haunt the waters for lack of a better term. A great white shark is absolutely one shark you don’t want to come across. Sure, it was an amazing experience for this fisherman to see it, and we would take that opportunity up in no time at all. However, we would not suggest touching or swimming with them!

According to the International Fund for Animal Welfare, sharks can be in every ocean in the world, except Antarctica and the Arctic. Those waters are too cold for great white sharks to survive.

Great white sharks start out life fairly large – they are born at around four feet long. Females tend to be larger than males, with average lengths of mature females between 15 to 16 feet, and weights ranging from 1,500 to 2,400 pounds. Mature males have average lengths of between 11 to 13 feet. Although these are just average weights, there are many great white sharks that have gone above and beyond what the typical weights are.

The most infamous of all great white sharks is Deep Blue, believed to be the largest ever, found off the coast of Mexico at Guadalupe Island. Although she was never actually measured, she is believed to be 20 feet long or more and is said to weigh over 4,400 pounds. There have been other massive great whites with recorded proof, in other areas as well. In 1988, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, off the coast of Prince Edward Island (PEI), the Canadian Shark Research Center confirmed a female 20 feet long, and another shark that measured 19.7 feet, found in Western Australia in 1987.
