Drivers in Charlotte, North Carolina, were surprised to find out just why traffic was moo-ving so slowly. In the video at the end of this article, watch as one driver films the aftermath as the door of a trailer opens, dumping cows onto the busy highway! But don’t worry: all the cows were reported to be okay.

The video shows the trailer door opening. The driver behind the video states that he thought tools would fall out of the open trailer. However, he and the other drivers behind the truck were in for a surprise as cows began to fall out of the moving trailer! The man behind the video slows in order to avoid hitting any of the loose cattle, allowing for a glimpse as the cows begin to move.

Thankfully, none of the cows that fell off the trailer during this incident appeared injured. Instead, the video shows as they stand up and begin moving to the side of the road.

Millions of cows are transported in the United States each year for various reasons ranging from slaughter to new housing.

How to Safely Transport Cattle

After watching the video below, you may be wondering how to safely transport cattle. After all, although the cows were physically fine following this incident, they were undoubtedly shaken up to have suddenly fallen onto the busy highway.

One of the most important details to ensure is proper sizing. If you’re transporting several cows, as in the video, then you’ll want to make sure that you have a trailer large enough. This means a trailer that is not only designed to hold the weight of several cows but also has enough space to accommodate them. You’ll also want to ensure that the trailer’s floor is non-slip. This helps protect the cow from any potentially dangerous falls.

The trailer isn’t the only important part of transportation, though. You’ll also need to ensure that your vehicle is prepared to haul such precious cargo. This means checking your hitch and ensuring that all lights are functioning properly.
