Being able to jump up to great heights is something we always love to see. Whether it is a basketball player leaping up several feet to slam dunk a ball, a daredevil on a motorcycle crossing great distances, or watching a parkour team leap from building to building, it is nothing short of amazing.

Animals are no exception to this. We personally love being able to watch videos of animals running and leaping great distances or watching an animal trainer show an audience how high their trained animal can leap up.

In this video posted below, we see several tigers that are in captivity that are getting ready to be fed. The animal trainers are coming from up high and releasing meat down. The tigers stand on the edge of the water, and we see each of them make an attempt to leap up in the air like a pogo stick to grab it!

Tigers make impressive leaps to catch food.

How High Can Tigers Jump?

This video below begs the question of how high tigers can jump. Watching them each leap great distances to gab this food was just incredible. But before we can answer that question, we have to look at the tiger as a whole.

How Big are Tigers?

The tiger, Panthera tigris, is a large mammal of the family Felidae. This large feline can reach up to 267-300 kilograms (589-660 pounds). They can also reach up to 10 feet long

In addition to their weight and length, these felines have some of the strongest claws in the world. Animal Food Planet states, “A tiger is a deadly animal that can kill prey in a single attack. While the exact force of a tiger’s claw is unknown, a tiger’s one paw swipe is estimated to be around 10,000 lbs. (22046 kgs).”

This makes them incredible predators. Their ability to hunt and kill is like none other in the animal kingdom.

How High Can Tigers Jump?

Now that we know how big they are, we can look at this question. It is estimated that tigers can jump anywhere from 18-20 feet high! But wait, that’s not all. They are known to be able to do this in one single jump. They don’t need to make several running leaps to make this happen. Tigers can do it in one swift jump.

As the largest cat species in the world, tigers can grow to impressive lengths. While there is only one species of tiger, there are nine subspecies. The Siberian tiger, also known as the Amur tiger, comes in as the largest of the nine, followed closely by the Bengal tiger. Males of the species are larger than females. Siberian tigers have an average weight of 660 pounds and can reach 10 feet long from their nose to their tail tips.
