Their tunnels help aerate the soil while also providing free fertilizer to the area. Moles eat the grubs of harmful plant-eating insects like beetles, which helps reduce damage to roots and foliage. However, moles can leave behind mounds and dips in the landscape, which makes the terrain difficult to navigate.
