During Shakira’s three-night stop in Quito, Ecuador, for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, an unexpected feel-good moment stole the spotlight. While thousands of fans packed the arena each night, one tiny rescue puppy ended up finding a forever home thanks to a member of the artist’s international team.

Local animal welfare group Acción Animal Ecuador had been invited backstage to provide the crew with a relaxing break by bringing several adoptable dogs. Among them was a small white puppy with adorable brown ears — and he quickly caught the attention of Carson, a staff member traveling with the tour.

Quito, named after the Ecuadorian city he was adopted in, is pictured here with his new owner, Carson.

Carson bonded with the pup almost immediately and decided he couldn’t leave Ecuador without him. He named the puppy Quito, honoring the city where their paths first crossed and where the dog’s new chapter began.

According to Acción Animal, all the required adoption and travel paperwork has been completed, and little Quito is now headed to the United States to start his new life. The shelter celebrated the happy ending on Instagram, thanking Carson and sharing the good news with supporters:

“Now he begins his new life in the United States… Thank you for opening your heart and considering Acción Animal Ecuador.”

Quito’s adoption is a reminder of the global reach of rescue efforts — and how even in the busiest environments, a single dog can make a life-changing connection.
