Bicyclist Drives Past a Gaggle of Turkeys Who Take Off and Chase The Bike Down the Road

When we think of nightmares, we typically can agree that being chased is one of the worst things we can imagine. Being chased is never fun because we always feel like we will be caught by whatever is chasing us. Not to mention the impending doom of what will happen once we are caught. 

When we think of being chased in real life, we think of animals like dogs or cats. But, now and then, some other types of animals will try to chase us as well. In the case of the video shown below, we see a bicyclist who is riding one day and comes across a gaggle of turkeys in an open field.

As he passes by these turkeys, if we pause the video at 15 seconds, we can count what looks to be about 15 turkeys! As he bikes passed them, we see these turkeys start to perk up as if they are annoyed that this bicyclist is riding on this road by their field. 

One turkey with black feathers takes the lead and starts to chase. The other turkeys start to follow suit and run behind the leader to back him up in getting this bicyclist off the road. We see the bicyclist starts to pick up speed as he realizes these turkeys might catch up to him!

The closer they get, the faster this bicyclist goes. He finally picks up some good speed and creates a significant distance between them so that he is finally safe from attack.

Turkey (Meleagris) Facts

Turkeys of the family Phasianidae can be found in various locations in Central America and North America. According to their conservation status, their population is of least concern. This is because it is estimated there are over 300 million turkeys!

Two species of turkey are the most well-known. Of course, the ones we can probably name are wild turkeys. And the second species would be known as the ocellated turkey. 

The sizes of turkeys can depend on their gender and species. Most turkeys weigh between 3-11 kilograms (6.6-24 pounds). As omnivores, turkeys will eat foods such as nuts, seeds, berries, and insects. 

Wild turkeys are known to be very aggressive. And as we can see in the video posted below, that’s not very difficult to believe!
