Tour Guide’s Remarks on the Latest Sightings

The next video posted below takes us to the MalaMala Game Reserve located in Southern Africa. Tour guide Pieter van Wyk offers part of his description of the events that unfolded on his tour.

“At first, I thought it was a snake attacking a bird of some sort, but as I got closer, I realized that the bird was attacking the snake. The bushshrike, with its distinctive grey, yellow, and green plumage, was diving down and pecking at the boomslang, a venomous tree snake known for its bright green color.”

As the tourists watched this humbling interaction of nature taking its course with these two animals, the tour guide had this to say about how the tourists handled it.

“We watched on for a while, and when the inevitable became clear, the guests requested we leave before the snake died as they could not stomach the sight. As we were leaving, I couldn’t help but think about what would happen to the snake.”

Vicious Attack on a Snake

When we think of a bird and a snake, we would probably assume that the snake would be the aggressor trying to kill and eat the bird. However, in this video, it is the bushshrike bird that is the aggressor to this boomslang snake.

Throughout this video, the bird viciously pokes and prods at this snake.
