The World’s Largest Island in a Lake on an Island in a Lake on an Island
So, what is the world’s largest island in a lake on an island in a lake on an island? The winner of this record is a small unnamed 4-acre lake within an island in a lake on Canada’s large Victoria Island. Previously, other lakes were considered the largest, until August 21, 2014, when the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8 shot an image of this impressive sub-sub-sub island. The island that the lake is within is also unnamed. It’s unlikely anyone has ever stepped foot on the island or the lake. While this lake currently holds the record, it might not be the largest! There are tens of thousands of lakes in Canada alone, many with freshwater islands.
Although it might not be the largest, it still holds the Guinness World Record. It was given this record on October 10, 2017. Interestingly, Canada holds many records. There are many sub-sub and sub-sub-sub islands. For example, on Newfound Island, is Grand Lake, a 210-square mile lake, that holds Glover Island, which has a large unnamed lake about 1.3 miles long and 0.5 miles wide.
