Gorgeous, coastal Maine is known for its lighthouses, lobster rolls, and adorable seaside towns. Once the leaves turn vibrant shades of reddish-orange and yellow and the crisp fall air prompts us to bust out our cardigans, it’s evident that fall has arrived in Maine. One of the best ways to celebrate the season is to visit a pumpkin patch, and Maine has plenty of options to choose from. Whether you’re looking for the perfect pumpkin or simply to delight in the picturesque New England countryside, the five best pumpkin patches in Maine will help you make the most of the fall season.

1. Treworgy Family Orchards (Levant)

Treworgy Family Orchards started in 1982 when Gary Treworgy retired from the Merchant Marines. He decided to build an apple orchard to spend more time with his family. After buying 42 acres of land, the Treworgy family set out to achieve this goal. After some setbacks, the family sold their first apples in 1995.

Today, Treworgy Family Orchards offers more than 60 varieties of pumpkins, squash, and gourds in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors. The family claims that their pumpkin patch has nearly eight miles of rows. The farm also offers specific instructions about finding and picking the best pumpkin. After you’ve found your favorite pumpkin, hit up the cafe for some ice cream!

2. Pumpkin Valley Farm (Dayton)

You can take advantage of the Fall Festival season at Pumpkin Valley Farm until October 29th. The farm has a five-acre corn maze and allows you to pick your own pumpkins. Admission to the farm includes access to the corn maze, jumping pillow, corn pit, duck races, and farm animals. The pumpkin patch has a wide variety of jack-o-lantern pumpkins to choose from. Don’t forget to check out The Rusty Bucket for brick oven pizza or the Cow Lick Cage for kettle corn and hot dogs.

3. Thunder Road Farm (Corinna)

A third-generation family owned and operated farm, Thunder Road Farm has been in operation since 1939. Thunder Road Farm is actually one of the first farms to offer u-pick pumpkin patches. If you’re looking for quaint and historic, Thunder Road Farm is the place to go. Each year the corn maze offers a different design and theme. At present, there are over 600 pumpkins in the pumpkin patch. Head on over and find your favorite pumpkin!

Although Wallingford’s Orchard is primarily known for its apple orchard, it also offers an adorable pumpkin patch where you can pick your favorite pumpkin. Located near the Androscoggin River, the stunning views of water and rolling hills make Wallingford’s Orchard a perfect location for fall exploration and pumpkin picking.

5. Harris Farm (Dayton)

Purchased in 1944, Harris Farm originally started out with milk cows on 100 acres. John Harris, the creator of Harris Farm, eventually added acreage to begin growing sweet corn. The pumpkin patch has pumpkins, gourds, and squash ripe for picking. Lastly, don’t forget to try the milk and yogurt made by Harris Farm!
