About once per month — or every 29.5 days — we experience a new moon, or the start of a lunar cycle. February 2024’s new moon will occur on February 9.

New moons are a time to reflect on the previous lunar cycle and plan for the next one. Many people will celebrate the new moon with specific “rituals,” such as manifesting, meditating, or cleansing their space of negative energy.

Each new moon holds unique power and significance. If you’re wondering how to make the most out of February 2024’s new moon, keep reading to learn about its timing and rituals.

Timing of February’s New Moon

The February 2024 New Moon will take place on February 9 at 5:59 p.m. EST. However, its energy will be potent for the few days leading up to it and the few days after. During this time, you won’t be able to see the moon in the night sky; and if you do, it will appear as the slightest sliver.

This new moon will occur in the sign of Aquarius, the rebellious, charitable air sign. What does this mean for the collective? Opportunity, change, and connection. This is a great time to call in what you’re seeking and embrace your most authentic self.

February 2024 New Moon Rituals

The new moon in Aquarius provides the perfect opportunity to connect with yourself and your desires. Here are a few ways you can do this.

Cleanse Your Space

Depending on your intentions, this might look like tidying up your apartment or burning some incense to freshen up your space. Many will open their windows and let the winter air in, dispelling any stagnant energy.

Meditate

Sitting quietly with yourself while focusing on your breathing is a great way to reconnect with your core being and intuition. You can either follow a guided meditation or lead yourself through one. Regardless, prioritize your intention to detach from certain outcomes and release unhealthy patterns. This should help ground you in the moment so you can show up in the world as your authentic self.

Manifest

The new moon is a great time to manifest any desire, from a new relationship to a dream career to a health solution. You can do this in a variety of ways, but my favorite is to script and visualize my ideal life with this new “manifestation” in it.

For example, if you’re looking to call in a new love interest, write a letter of gratitude to that person as if they already exist in your life. Talk about the things you do together, like cooking or traveling, and how they make you feel. Are they supportive of your dreams? Do they share your interests? How do they show up for you and make you feel loved? Write it all down as if you already have this person in your life.

As for visualization, you can simply sit in meditation and create a sort of short film or highlight reel of how you want your life to look in the next month or near future. Play out your ideal day, romantic date night, or dream trip. Get in tune with your emotions and truly feel the excitement, gratitude, and love you have for these blessings — as if they are already yours.

Tip: If you don’t know what you want, but simply feel stuck in life, manifest clarity. Make it known that you want more insight into your wants and needs in life, and trust your intuition will fill in the blanks if you give it the space to speak.

Create an Action Plan

Since Aquarius is a particularly pragmatic sign, you’ll find more success with your manifestation if you create an action plan. Many believe manifesting is pure magic (which it can seem to be at times!), but there has to be some sort of purposeful action to back it up.

For example, if your dream is to publish a book, create a plan that holds you accountable for writing for thirty minutes every morning. If you want to meet your person, brainstorm unique ways to put yourself out there more.

Happy New Moon!
